Delicious food with a great staff!! Mango margaritas and chicken enchilada, fajitas, fish and shrimp tacos are great.
love it here, the food is on point and the drinks are just right!
I dont live in the neighborhood but stop in for pick-up whenever I'm at an appointment close by. Have been going there since it opened. I've only had the mixed enchilada plate (very good) and fish tacos, but now I won't try anything else because I LOVE THE FISH TACOS! Excellent! I need to try more items. Also always get the salsa & a bag of chips as well. So much bad Mexican food around, so it was very refreshing to find this place!

La Frontera Mexican Grill & Bar is a restaurant serving fantastic and authentic Mexican food, with many calling it some of the best in Austin. The menu is full of flavorful and consistently delicious dishes. Standout items include the pollo Azteca with hot jalapeños, the flautas, the legendary green jalapeño sauce, and the red salsa with a kick. The chili con carne sauce offers an old-school Austin Tex-Mex taste. Popular choices are the Migas plate, the chili relleno with chicken fajita meat, the al pastor tacos, enchiladas like the Diablo enchiladas and the trio, crispy tacos, fajitas, and the Monterey burger. The refried beans and charro beans with a hint of bacon are also praised. The margaritas are excellent.
The vibe is a nice, fresh sports TV type with a warm and welcoming dining area featuring booths and tables. Service is often described as superb, patient, polite, and attentive. The food is reasonably priced with ample parking. Some notes for improvement mention the Spanish rice, dry corn tortillas, and that the flour tortilla could use work. One consistent criticism is that the chips and salsa experience can be disappointing, with never enough salsa and sometimes large chunks of onion. Despite this, the overall impression is of a gem of a restaurant with fantastic food and great service.
