I was walking by the food park when I noticed something new. This place is towards the back of the park, right next to Bananarchy.cI had the agedashi salad with spicy tuna and hamachi temakis. Honestly pretty fresh and filling! I wish them the best of success to be selling sushi out of a food truck. The only other food truck that could make good sushi et al was Dawa back in the day.
Just tried these lovely folks on a whim, and the temaki (hand rolls) are legit! Tried the Blue Fin tuna, Salmon Skin, and the Unagi (eel, my fav), and the flavors are really on point. (I’ve lived in Japan, so I’m picky about this kind of stuff). Also, the two people working were super nice + helpful. Highly recommended!

We came here yesterday with our dog and bebe for dinner. This was perfect for a sushi fix without the hassle of a sit down restaurant, which is what we needed. The fish was really good quality, everything tasted fresh and delicious, and the people working the truck were really kind and friendly! We started with the salmon and hamachi toro, which were delicious and fresh and the perfect temp. This was the only food we got a picture of because then we got to into the food and forgot to pause for pics. We also had a bunch of maki, the hand rolls: bluefin tuna, sake, hamachi (my favorite), lobster, California, salmon skin (2nd favorite), and chicken karage. Super solid food, great experience, and we will definitely return! (Not terribly important, but all the dishes and plates were bamboo or palm leaf, which are compostable and biodegradable which was also a great touch)

I am first time in Austin, came here because of the highly rated reviews but I have to say I am a bit disappointed. I have had pretty good sushi in the states so far, higher qualities and more affordable than in London.First of all the food is a bit overpriced for the portion and quality. My salmon sashimi was 9 dollars for 3 pieces, but they are not too fresh and the cut is very small. The hand rolls are good, but nothing too impressive (again because I expected something better than average so got a little disappointed)Second, no chopsticks even though I ordered it to go. I had to eat the sashimi with my hands. Not enough packs soy sauce either. ?I love small businesses and the owners seem very nice, however, someone should point out what could be improved.I hope everything will get better!

Loved this spot! Honestly a hidden gem, I don’t expect a ton from food trucks but the chef behind Little Nishi is doing something special. Each hand roll has a generous portion of fish and the flavors accompanying it are so balanced and delicious. I tried the hamachi and the vegan one and I loved the flavors that were in the miso peach for the vegan one, so creative but it worked really well. The standout was the chicken karage, it was delicious dark meat and we all devoured it with the homemade mustard. Everything was excellent and the service was amazing too. Again, shout out to the chef, you’re truly making something beautiful here in Austin. I can’t wait to come back and try more. ??

Can't sing the praises of Little Nishi enough. Chef Joel is a master at his craft. He and Ryan are an absolute delight to talk with while waiting, and I'm not just saying that because they think I'm funny. Awesome place run by awesome people.
Yeah I hate to say it, but this place is amazing. I wanted to keep it to myself before it got big, but I’d rather have others enjoy some great tasting Toro. Wait times can take a while, it’s what it should take when it’s quality.

Overall amazing fish quality and delicious karage. Heating lamp by the seating table to keep us warm. Unlimited wasabi, soy sauce, and ginger.Reason for 4 star was because the hand rolls were a little clumsy - rice:fish ratio was off and rice was too clumpy. Some handroll flavors were too unconventional for our taste, but can see the appeal.Everything shown in pictures were $70 before tax.

I am always looking for sushi in south austin and so I was so excited to wander across this place. It was a quiet weekday and I arrived just as they were opening. The owner was very nice and let me know that he had just opened and it would be a bit before the food was ready. No problem at all. Placed my order and got ready to wait. Took about 20 minutes. The fish quality was good but the rice was terrible. Unseasoned and just not up to par. Sushi is about the fish but it is also about the rice. I was really disappointed with the meal. THe rice was inedible. Despite this I will return and try it again when they haven;t just opened. I always want to give small businesses another shot so I will try it again. Hours are a little weird though. I went around lunch another time to try and they don't open until 1 pm. So make sure you check the hours before you go!
Amazing Sushi. Fresh and reasonably priced.
