Great from start to finish, but definitely make a reservation. The food is phenomenal and reasonably priced and the staff went above and beyond to make my niece's birthday special! Very happy we picked Sushi Japon:)

The food and service was amazing!
Hibachi on one side with a full show revolving around your food or regular tables without the show but the same amazing food, our server was top tier in attitude, grammar, attentiveness, and appearance. The food we ordered all off the happy hour menu on a slow night so we didn’t come in with high expectations on the sushi rolls. We ordered five rolls, two miso soups, two bottles of saki(one cold and one hot), and some mango ice cream. Literally every aspect was as top tier as the service from our waiter! My only regret is I left four pieces of sushi in a to-go box after we finished! I’ll for sure be back and would recommend to anyone looking for a superb ‘date night’ out or celebrating something, but we just went in for a casual dinner and left full and happy. Thank you!

Terrible host, we had reservations at 7:30pm. We were told that at 7:50 the table would be ready. Went back to ask and the host did not know how to answer. Wife came to ask and she was told that at 8 it would be ready. We got our table at 8:30pm. This will be the last time I come to this location. Do not waste your time here, literally.

We had a big group on a Saturday during prom season. We only waited for the rest of our party to arrive, then were sat fairly quickly. It was a nice experience for all. Kids loved the lights and music 🎶. Our chef was great and food was excellent 👌 👍🏻. We'll definitely be back soon.

Gave Sushi Japon and Hibachi Grill a try and it turned out to be a solid spot. The sushi tasted fresh and the Hibachi had really good flavor, so it's nice having both options in one place. The vibe is casual and easygoing, making it a good place to sit down with friends or family. Everything came out quick and well prepared. I'd definitely come back again!!

Food: Sushi and Japanese dishes, nothing special. 🍣
Service: Just okay, nothing to write home about.
Ambiance: Least enjoyable part, honestly. 😬
Overall: Not bad, but not a place I’d go back to.
Extra note: Let’s be real, in Texas, going to a non-BBQ restaurant is kinda weird anyway 🤣🤣
Bottom line: Meh experience—good if you want sushi, but nothing memorable.

Wonderful sushi and hibachi. I arrived at 3:30 and there was no wait. Likely a longer wait in prime time.
The hostess and server were friendly and helpful. The hibachi chef was entertaining and engaged.
The food... Best filet mignon and scallops I've had in a while. The hibachi rice went perfectly with the vegetables and the protein. The soup and salad were very good, with a house made dressing.
Very pleased, and I'll definitely be back the next time I'm in Austin.

The atmosphere was amazing the staff was awsome the food itself was a little lack luster though the chicken and steak was chewy. The sushi rolls were good but nothing special.

Sushi Japon & Hibachi Grill was a great experience overall. I tried the spicy yellowtail, which was good, but it wasn’t my favorite. Something in the sauce made my tongue feel like I had eaten a handful of Warheads. I’m not sure if it was just very strong or if I might have been slightly sensitive to something in it, but it was definitely intense.
I also had the Sexy Lady Roll, which was good as well, though I felt like it was missing just a little something. It probably would have been great with soy sauce, but I skipped it since my tongue was already feeling pretty sensitive after the yellowtail.
Overall, I’d give it 4.5 stars. The food was still enjoyable, and I’d definitely come back to try different items if I’m ever in Austin again.

The cheese ragoons are the best I've ever had in my life. The sushi is also very fresh. Very happy with the quality of the food here and the price is very reasonable 👌🏻

We had a reservation but still waited about 30 minutes to be seated. I was served first, and several pieces of my chicken were clearly undercooked (others at the table didn’t seem to have this issue). Fun atmosphere, but the wait and food quality were disappointing.
