Doug Nelsons Cafe

This a small cafe that looked busy for their lunch crowd so I had to try it out. The service was good, but not great. The BBQ was ok. I personally do not like to add BBQ sauce to any meat so it can taste good. The was sausage was Eckhart sausage or some other process meat with no telling the ingredients like corn syrup and starch. Simple, fresh, fast and good!!! We typically order Doug's fish fry mix and have it shipped to us in Dallas... we happened to be in the Beaumont area and had to check it out. Only sorry Doug wasn't around to meet in person!

The restaurant has changed its name to Rodair Express and Catering. From its Facebook postings, it seems Mr. Nelson, 85, decided to "hang up his apron" after 50 years. The new Rodair Express will be introducing more items from its popular Rodair Roadhouse in Port Arthur.
