NO FREAKING WAY !!!! The ORIGINAL Monterey House Restaurant STILL EXISTS…. in Beaumont, TX !!! What a BLAST from the PAST!!! There used to be a gazillion Monterey House restaurants in Houston & Pasadena, Texas until they got REBRANDED as Monterey’s Tex-Mex Café & changed up their recipes/menu!!! The location here in Beaumont is a RELIC from the 80’s !!! It hasn’t changed ONE BIT!!! Took me back to late 70s, early 80s Houston when Monterrey Houses were still around. I was told this is the last Monterrey house in Texas. Food took me back in time, especially the queso dip/nacho....will definitely return soon.
