We were in town for two days and were looking for a place with great food when we found this restaurant on Google. Based on the photos, everything looked delicious, so we decided to give it a try—and I’m so glad we did!
The food was absolutely amazing. Everything we tried was packed with flavor and cooked to perfection. Sweet Jesus… those yams 🍠 were to die for!
This is easily one of the best soul food restaurants I’ve had in Texas. On top of the incredible food, the family who run the restaurant are so welcoming, kind, and genuinely make you feel at home.
If you’re in the area, do yourself a favor and stop by. You won’t be disappointed!

The turkey wings were tender and delicious! Paired with the dressing and yams, reminded me of my mommas cooking. Topped of with large slice of cake that melted in your mouth. Definitely 5 stars

We absolutely love eating at Lamar and Niki’s! Every time we dine there, it feels like a family reunion. We love when Niki and Grandma come by to visit with us—it makes the experience feel so personal and special.
Lamar, Niki, and their wonderful staff, both in the kitchen and on the front line, are truly amazing. You can tell they cook and serve with genuine care. The food is always fabulous, and honestly, you cannot go wrong with anything on the menu.
The atmosphere is warm, welcoming, and makes you feel right at home. They have such wonderful hearts. During our last visit, I witnessed Niki paying it forward for one of her customers, and it truly touched my heart.
They are genuinely good people, wonderful Christians, and they treat everyone who walks through their doors like family. Please support local and support this wonderful mom-and-pop establishment. Five stars all the way!

Passing through town & saw this place on Google Maps. Stopped by to grab lunch it was 43$ for TWO LUNCH plates we had beef tips and rice , yams , collard greens mixed with cabbage . The beef tips were lacking in flavor they definitely used instant rice and tried to hide the flavor adding a ton of butter . Corn bread was delicious as well as the collards and cabbage - sweet tea had a great flavor. It was just overly sweet. Yams had a great flavor just a weird after taste . We were super disappointed at the service we received by the staff. The ladies seem to be very dry and rude, not welcoming whatsoever. The cashier gentleman was super friendly and apologized for their behavior.

Where do I start!!! If you are looking for fresh food, seasoned to perfection… this is the place for you. I took a leap of faith based on the reviews and invited our travel team here... NO ONE was disappointed. Not one single complaint from the entire team. We had two bbq plates with ribs, chicken, brisket and sausage. Everything tender with the hint of Smokey flavor. We also had fried chicken plate. My favorite piece of chicken is the breast. I don't know what Nikki and Lamar season this bird with but I love it.... and juicy! I instantly said I should have gotten two plates! Between our three plates the sides included: yams, Mac and cheese, cabbage with greens, and green beans. Not one single complaint! Kool-aide: Must have. I haven’t tried my peach cobbler because I’m way too full but if it's anything like everything else it will be amazing too. The staff was very kind. The restaurant was intimate and made you feel like you are back home in your grandma's kitchen. I will definitely eat here every time we play in Bryan!

beef and ribs are illegal levels of good. Tender, perfectly seasoned, melts in your mouth like it’s got no respect for physics. I’m siting here like I should be paying rent just to eat it.

This place is warm. I mean in atmosphere, in energy, in the way they serve you with the open arms. You leave not only fed with the best food but also just feeling in good spirit.
They give you that sort of feel that they not only make the food with love but also pray over it. Pic of my side of yams is all i got before diving in.

I love this place! The smothered pork steak is my favorite, but the brisket is a very close second. The staff makes me feel appreciated. Do yourself a favor and give this place a try.
