Sambal Street Asian Bistro is a restaurant serving Malaysian and Singaporean dishes. The restaurant is not very big with maybe only around 10 tables, so the place can fill quickly when it gets busy. The servings are to share and service is fast. The sambal fish filet is a must try. The food is delicious, fresh, with large portions, and fair priced. The Malay/Indonesian dishes are authentic and the best in Dallas. The beef rendang really hit the spot, flavor was on point, and the meat had been cooked to the point where you could fork shred it to mix in better with your rice. The laksa is so delicious, the santan tastes amazing. The Wan Ton Ho and Hainanese Chicken Rice are also mentioned. The Char Kway Teow was quite wet, not especially flavorful, and didn't have any wok hei. The roti from the roti canai was very flat not puffy or very crispy. The Hainanese Chicken was quite dry and was mostly bones. The sauce and crunchy noodles on the Malaysian Yin Yong wasn't bad as well as the garlic Kang Kung. The tofu was deep fried a little too long. The vegetables are still crunchy and soft at the same time. The shrimp is very good quality also. The hawker-style setup allows ordering from the screen and they bring the food to your table. The prices were a bit expensive for the food quality, the very simple environment, and the lack of real table service.
