“Great food, large portions, and nice employees. Open later than a lot of places, so great for when you realize it’s 7pm and you have no idea what’s for dinner. Highly recommend.“

“Wow. What an experience!
The curried lamb, tender and succulent, is a testament to the chef's expertise in balancing spices and seasonings. Each bite is a symphony of flavors, with the rich aroma of curry leaves, cinnamon, and cardamom mingling harmoniously with the earthy sweetness of slow-cooked lamb. Served atop a bed of fragrant basmati rice, this dish is a true celebration of culinary craftsmanship.
Accompanying the curried lamb we ordered samosas, golden parcels of crispy pastry filled with a savory medley of spiced potatoes and peas. The first bite yields a satisfying crunch, followed by an explosion of flavors as the fragrant spices dance on your palate. After a taste of these bad boys you'll understand why these samosas are an irresistible indulgence.
The service from Kanny was exemplary! He was friendly and eager to guide us through the menu and offer recommendations based on our preferences. Whether you're a seasoned spice aficionado or a novice explorer of Indian cuisine, you'll feel right at home in this cozy culinary haven.
I dare you to embark on a flavorful journey today and awaken your senses to the wonders of this Indian cuisine.

“The Shrimp Teriyaki was good. I do wish the salad wasn’t put with the hot food. It makes it hot too and mushy. The big bowl with extra veggies doesn’t travel well and there aren’t many veggies on this like advertised, and didn’t taste that well. It was soupy. The lettuce wraps were okay. I still recommend this place.“

“this is one of the first restaurants I went to in Austin. 5 years ago and its still a favorite. love the vibe, it's never too busy, the food is delicious and the owners are nice. Today my pregnancy baby brain kicked in and I forgot my purse there and didn't notice for over 2 hours, they set it aside for me at their reserved table so no one would take it. Love drunk fish ❤❤“

“Second time here and will be back. The food was great. I believe the buns were hand made - we had the pan fried soup buns. Highly recommend the pork intestines too. The service provided was also great. Attentive and helpful staff. Planning to come back again.“

“Rewriting my review from a year ago because Chen’s has changed my life. The food here is so consistent, authentic, and delicious. Mr. Chen is a great guy by the way. Remembers his customers, what they like, and even asks inquisitive questions. I used to go to Xian Famous Foods in New York all the time and since leaving the city, I struggle to find hand-pulled noodles in Texas. Chens’ menu is a perfect mix of Gansu, Shaanxi, and Xinjiang-inspired food. My go to dishes are the lamb with hand pulled noodles, the beef noodle soup, and mala beef noodle soup. You cannot find this food anywhere. And if you do, chances are, it won’t be that good. Skewers are also fantastic. When you walk in, as I did everyday for the last 4 days on a trip to Austin, you’ll see folks from the part of the world that this food originates slurping on noodles without a care in the world, which is a tell-tale sign of how great this little restaurant is, but lately I’ve been seeing a more diverse crowd and I just get happy seeing the maturation of other people’s palettes! The food should be enjoyed by all! Chen’s is a 5 out of 5. Highly-recommended! Oh, the change the life part. I decided to book a trip to China and travel to some of the places in the country where this food originates. Yeah, it’s happening, so thanks Mr. Chen!
Old review: George is a great guy and his noodles are even better! I thought it was Xian-styled food, but it was actually Lanzhou! Even better. I had the lamb noodles spicy, along with the Mala beef noodle soup and the skewers! Best food ever!“

“Everything was great. I like that each chicken item specifically mentions whether it is made with white or dark meat. I had chicken and broccoli and mom had pan fried noodles with the chicken, beef and shrimp combo. Both were a ton of food! Mine came with rice and it was easily 4 cups, in a separate, big bowl. The pan fried noodles weren’t what we were expecting. They resembled long, pretzel sticks in taste and texture, but they were still tasty. The staff was very friendly and attentive. I wish we could’ve gone more when my son worked there several years ago.“
