Solid Mexican food and good service. Reasonable prices.
We stopped here on our road trip home and we're so glad we did! Our server was polite, made several suggestions for us, made sure our cups never went empty, and rang us out quickly. The star of the show was the chimichanga. Rather than a burrito, it's fried in their sopapilla batter, and is easily the best chimichanga I've ever had. We're adjusting our route out west next year just to go back and get it again.

La Española II is a cozy restaurant in Dalhart, TX, serving delicious Mexican cuisine. Their regular combination and cheese enchiladas are flavorful, with crispy chips and amazing sopapillas, which are the best some have ever had, served piping hot and perfectly cooked. Unique to their menu are exceptional hamburgers and a stuffed chicken sopapilla, a pleasant surprise for those who aren't typically fans of Mexican food. The food is hot, fresh, and tasty, with fresh tortillas, homemade salsa—some of the best around—and grated cheese on the chips. The place was spotless, and the girls were friendly. The atmosphere was like a Mexican diner style, with a small family feel. The chips were a bit greasy, but the sopapillas were great. The lonely burrito with cheese sauce was huge and good. The lite enchilada dinner was loved. They are making their own chips and sopapillas. Two half combos and a green chile burrito were excellent, with great value for money.
