“I have been going here for years to eat lunch for work. From the sopes to the daily specials I don't think they have a bad option. The owner is super nice and all his family! If your in the area and they are open this is 100% the best option to eat in a 10 mile radius. It's also one of my top 10 favorite places to eat in the Austin area!“

“Stumbled across this food truck as I was adventuring through downtown. The service was quick, the owner was friendly, and the food was delicious! I ordered the "Ditty Dog" (with no cream cheese), and it was delicious! Fresh, tons of flavor, and definitely pleasing to the taste buds. Ditty Dog is located at the Red River food truck area. Easily a short walk after a night of drinking at the nearby bars. Give them a try!“

And covered in cheese and spicy salsa- you are in for a treat!Try the pirata or the Al pastor.“

“This little truck packs a big punch when it comes to flavor and quality. From the moment you step up to the window, you can tell that the folks at La Flor are passionate about their craft. The menu is simple but perfect, with a variety of meat options, including chicken, beef, and pork, as well as delicious vegetarian options. Everything is made fresh to order, and you can taste the difference. The tortillas are soft and warm, the meats are perfectly seasoned, and the toppings are fresh and flavorful.Don't let the humble exterior fool you – the food is top-notch, and you won't be disappointed. Steak

“I recently visited their second outpost on the corner of 45th and Duval and wow, I just found my favorite taco truck in Austin. The carnitas were a standout: super-flavorful and tender with little crispy bits from the flat top. The pastor was nicely marinated and mostly savory with a hit of sweetness to balance it out. My tacos were served with a generous helping of onions (I held the cilantro - tastes like soap to me!) atop corn tortillas that were on point. You can add red or green salsa as you'd like. Both were delicious but packed a punch, so beware if you are heat averse. Such an unassuming gem that deserves all of the love.“

“Occupying the kitchen inside Lavaca, Turf n Surf Po' Boy serves up some great seafood with strong Cajun flavors that will transport you straight to NOLA! Open late, they're great for post-bar munchies. The menu could get a little overwhelming at first glance, but the variety is well worth it. When the weather is good, it's nice to just stop by and order through their sidewalk window and eat at one of the tables outside. I'm personally a fan of their Naughty Cat Poboy, which is blackened catfish and bacon with all the fixings - it's just seasoned so well and really hits the spot. I also suggest getting their Fried Jumbo Gulf Shrimp, which are beyond fresh. A word of warning, though: their sandwiches could get REAL messy and start falling apart, with coleslaw getting all over the place, so be prepared!“

“My late night jaunts in Austin have usually lead me to a number of late night spots, most of which has been food truck taquerias and cater to us hungry night owls in the local food scene. One such spot has been El Super Taco, which is east of I-35 and a stone's throw from the airport. While I wouldn't call their food super per se, I would note that they've been a solid option practically every time. (#1)The truck itself is parked at an old gas station, which they've converted to an outdoor dining space complete with parking and picnic benches for folks who want to chow down on the spot. During the pandemic they had built an where they take payment straight through a window and of course, it's cash only. The wait isn't too long for the food and during their heydey, the tables were usually filled with people. At 2AM, not so much.Unlike the Houston taco scene, they have asada (#2) as one of their choice meats, followed by pastor, barbacoa, cecina, pollo, chicharron, campechano, and deshebrada. The latter is a shredded beef that has been one of their best sellers and is not commonly found at most taco spots. Their barbacoa and pastor are good, but they are commonly sold out before their night is over. They also have breakfast tacos during select times of the day, and that's do a very good huevos based taco with nopales or tocino or salchipapa or the classic chorizo and/or spinach. The tortas, sopes, quesadillas, and sincronizadas are worth considering, but the gorditas and tostadas are very underrated.Speaking Spanish isn't required (#3), it is helpful. The staff is quite good about expediting the food, especially when there is a line. It hasn't been a problem during their later hours and there's been plenty of seating.Lastly, I recommend taco selfies for that sick mural. Most taco stands / trucks won't have something that artistic, so I recommend taking advantage of it while it's still here.___________(#1) Consistency and reliability. It matters in life and in tacos.(#2) Seriously, what's the deal with the meat "fajita" in Houston?(#3) Welcome to Austin!“
