“I had a good experience at Denny’s restaurant on University Drive In Edinburg this morning. Samantha, our server, constantly checked on us. She always made sure to be cheerful and attentive. Cassie, a server not assigned to us, had an ever-present smile. Her smile radiated so brightly that it lit up the mood of my friend and me. These two young ladies made our visit to this place extremely pleasant. I recommend sitting at the bar. The bar is where the staff assembles to retrieve their orders. It is where you will always see smiling faces. Here is where they have more of an opportunity to face you and gift you with a kind comment or beam another bright smile in your direction.“

I like the chicken and grape sandwich on a croissant. The poblano corn soup (kinda spicy) and zucchini soup are also pretty good. “I had the six once Ribeye, mashed potatoes and steamed broccoli. The Ribeye was super tough, potatoes were almost cold and broccoli was okay. This place was not busy but it took thirty minutes to receive our order. We let the waiter know our dissatisfaction. So the manager to replace steak with another item. I said no. She gave us a dessert instead. I was very disappointed.“

“After my sister dropping off her dog at Muddy Paws around the corner from Papa Joe's we decided to eat in at about 8am Saturday. We both ordered bacon egg and cheese tacos. It came with a small serving of refried beans, a 1 oz cup of salsa and tortilla chips. The meal was very cheap ($2.25) and very delicious. It was plenty and kept us til lunch. For someone not familiar with the area and not from Mercedes, this was a great choice. Thank you Papa Joe's. We'll visit again soon.“

“Coming here for nearly 25 years, I learned to memorize the daily specials. Uniquely curated daily, one of today's daily special was the fideo. You see, the fideo here is made just like how my mom used to make it back in the 70s and 80s. I take mine in a bowl with pinto beans and this is exactly how I always order it up on Wednesdays here at Rositas. The specials used to include the ice tea but not anymore, thus keep that in mind.“

“I need to upgrade my review for this LongHorn Steakhouse. I noticed I left a 2-star review back in 2017 after a disappointing experience. I've returned several times since then, and, after that visit in 2017, has been consistently positive since. Restaurants tend to have high employee turnover rates, and can have personnel issues from time to time - especially on challenging days when they're getting slammed like on that Mother's Day. So here's my redemption review...

This LongHorn Steakhouse is located on the north side of Interstate 2 (Expressway 83) in Weslaco, in front of the JCP and Academy stores and in between Texas Blvd. And N. Bridge Road.

The current management has maintained the property well. It is a handsome building with the trademark stonework facade, nicely landscaped, with ample, well lit parking. It is handicapped accessible, and high chairs for toddlers are available. It would be good for small groups as well as family get-togethers, and business lunch or date night.

They offer their signature steaks, burgers, salmon, chicken, some comfort food like their excellent mac n cheese, salads, and more.

I met some friends here for a late lunch on a Saturday around 4 PM. There was no wait. Our server did an incredible job, was friendly, attentive, and checked back on us several times. She kept our drinks filled and even offered a to-go cup as we were wrapping up.

The fresh baked bread and butter was delicious, served along with our drinks while we looked over the menu.

I ordered the 8 ounce sirloin, a loaded baked potato, and the crispy Brussels sprouts. I noticed the potato had a lot of salt encrusted on the skin, but since I did not eat the skin, it was not a problem - though it could be an issue for those on low-sodium diets. The Brussels Sprouts were crispy on the outside for the most part... I would have enjoyed them more a bit crisper and with some Balsamic vinager, but they were still pretty good. The steak was cooked as requested and delicious.

There was some background music, but it was at a decent level so it did not hinder our conversation.

I really enjoyed this visit and dining experience, recommend this LongHorn Steakhouse, and based on my last three visits am awarding them the full five stars.“
