Based on the reviews, Doña Carmen Pupuseria Restaurant serves authentic Salvadoran food. The food is excellent and worth the wait. The pupusas are huge, so you really only need two even if you think you want three. They are cooked fresh and taste great. Other standouts include the mojarra frita, carne asada, and plantains with refried beans. Portions are generous and prices are super affordable. The horchata is true Salvadoran horchata, and the curtida is fresh. The dining area is clean and the staff are friendly, patient, and kind. However, customers should expect a wait for their food, sometimes about an hour even for to go orders. Paying can be a little chaotic and hectic on busy days, and there is a language barrier as the menu is in Spanish only. One suggestion is to separate the pupusas with paper so they do not stick together.
