Messina Hof Hill Country Winery

There’s a lot of vineyards on 290 around Fredricksburg but I always make Messina Hof a must stop at. I’m of the opinion that the wine is some of the best if not the best on 290 and the service is second to none - Craig and Roger are more than just wine pourers - they’re great to talk to and very knowledgeable.
If you only have time to hit 2-3 wineries, make sure Messina Hof is on your list

I love the setup at Messina Hof Hill Country. They use tokens that are exchanged for small glasses in the tasting menu, which allows guests to sit down instead of standing at the bar for an entire tasting. The staff are very helpful, especially Elisabeth, who seemed to know exactly what we would like to try.
Had a wonderful time and bought some bottles to take home.

Unfortunately my group of 4 were instantly upset with our first impression. We were not greeted. When we were helped it was Spreesa Wright who came to take our order. We wanted to know if we could have a glass about 15 minutes before they closed. Now I understand that we came in right before close BUT they had more people waiting to get in behind us and a good amount of people in their dinning area. Spreesa was being quick with us and said well do yall know what yall want? But hadn’t even asked us if we had ever visited before and didn’t provide us with a menu. i told her I didn’t know what they had and then Spreesa gave us a menu. We were made to order there and pay there, which if it’s their process that’s fine BUT it seemed unkind and rushed. We went to the bar and got our drinks. Later a nice gentleman was leaving and gave us a token.. we assumed it was a token for a glass of wine. My friend instantly took it to the bar to cash it in and again Spreessa was rude throughout the interaction. My friend wanted to turn in the token for a glass of wine but Spreessa rudely said if I give you a glass I’ll have to charge you for it this is for tasting. My friend said okay well then can I get the tasting and she said yeah your the one with the token and tossed it aside pretty hard. There was no kindness from Spreessa. I hope Spreesa has a better day after getting off work.

I visited Messina Hof Winery on 290 for the 4th time recently and was thoroughly impressed with the exceptional service and exceptional wine offerings. From the moment we arrived, the staff were warm and welcoming, making us feel like valued guests. Our server took the time to explain each of the wines on the menu, but it was their Sparkling Almond Prosecco that truly stole the show. This unique and refreshing wine was a delightful departure from traditional sparkling wines, with its subtle almond notes adding a new dimension of flavor. We paired it with their delicious bruschetta, which was loaded with fresh tomatoes, basil, and mozzarella cheese - a perfect combination that complemented the Prosecco beautifully.

Messina Hof Winery is a wonderful place to get out of city or to spend a weekend getaway. The place has a winery, tasting room, restaurant and unique bed-and-breakfast villa. It was a pleasant experience, vast variety of wine and souvenirs. Outdoor sitting for weddings and different events.

What an incredible experience! From Roger's welcome at the door to Lee and Joel's experience and friendly conversation we were won over before even tasting the wine. Once we did though, we were even more impresses! The wines are well balanced and delicious! Try the Library Tasting ...amazing!!

Amazing place, so let me explain in detail why.1. Everyone is treated equally. Nobody can be a member of every winery in Fredrickburg TX. Messina Hoff have stayed to their core, and treat everyone the same. This means you don’t get thrown out the back door to drink wine in the 100% heat. You get to enjoy true wine, being served at the correct temperature in an A/C building. Sit enjoy and feel comfortable.2. Service - we have been coming to Fredrickburg for 10years, approximately 2-3 times year. Every time we have been acknowledged, and treated with respect by servers that understand the wine industry. This last time today yesterday and today we met Alberto and his wife who were both amazing.3. Value - are you tried of paying $14-20 for a glass of wine. Messina Hoff wine cost approximately $9 per glass, and is very comparable and in many cases and actually than many higher priced wineries in the vicinity.Bottom line - make a stop, enjoy and I promise you that you will enjoy your experience.I am not someone that normally leaves a review, but this is something that is important to me, and I want to ensure I share this experience with others.
