Great diner food. Friendly efficient staff, even when crowded. We liked our breakfasts, which came with generous quantity. I would not consider the food particularly German though.I got some take out. Alert pastries which were tasty also.Conveniently located on the Main Street.I recommend this restauraunt.

Great German food! Worth the wait. We came on a Saturday and put our names on the list, then enjoyed some pastries from the bakery during our 20 minute wait for a table. Once seated the restaurant is busy, but has a quaint German old town vibe with friendly and attentive waitresses. The menu was larger than I anticipated. Our food came quickly. My husband thoroughly enjoyed the sausage plate. I enjoyed the schnitzel in mushroom gravy. We left happy and full. Worth the visit!Kid-friendliness: Very kid friendly with kind attentive waitresses. My kids loved the mini corndogs and french fries.
The line was long, but pastries were worth the wait

Very good! But you need to go early or in a mood to wait 1 hour. But worth every penny

I thought this was a charming place and did like the food here, however, it was nothing that I would make a special trip back for.

An old fashioned diner with a German sprinkling of fun. We had eggs and German sausage and hash browns, German pancakes(includes egg and hasbrowns and sausage. The hash browns were browned most excellent. The German pancakes is just a somewhat flatter pancake, better for syrup to sq. Inch ratio. Coffee was hot and 3 dozen 1/2 and 1/2's were on the table. My eggs had an old oil grill flavor, we were there at 7 am, so maybe there wasn't a chance for that umami to curate itself yet.We met a German citizen at the airport and told her about our German dining experience, and she laughed. Anyway, it's an evolved American/German cafe!It was nice to see the old farts in trucker hats having breakfast there, you know it's good eatin' when you see that!
Ruben and bratwurst sandwiches were excellent. More than enough meat, plenty of sauerkraut, and corned beef had very little fat. Potato salad was rather bland, but OK. The odd thing to us was that the town was filled with tourists during to April 8 total eclipse who were looking for a place to eat, yet restaurant closed at 3pm. In addition, sign on the door said they would be closed on Wednesday and Thursday. Perhaps April is usually a slow time of year, though hard to imagine because the spring wildflower bloom in Fredericksburg is legendary. Bottom line is that the food was great, but pay attention to hours and days of the week that they are open.

If you're coming for breakfast, you'd better be here.Exactly when they open up, you can wait over an hour. The portions are tremendously big.You can almost share. However, this time, I came 41 things, and that is the german pumpernickel bread. We got here late, and almost all the bread was gone.Especially the good wheat bread. But they had just brought out warm pumpernickel bread, and I had to buy four loafs so we could freeze itThey close at 3 o'clock in the afternoon. So please get there early if you just want to hit the bakery and do not wanna dine in.Don't forget to get the big German pretzels. They are delicious.
