About Altdorf Biergarten

Altdorf Biergarten offers a laid-back atmosphere with friendly servers, including those with a thick German accent. The bustling yet relaxed vibe is especially enjoyed on the expansive patio, where happy dogs lounge with their owners, making it a fantastic spot for outdoor dining. The restaurant serves delicious German dishes, such as the Sausage Platter, Salmon, Wurst Platte, and Zwiebelschnitzel, along with impressive portions that guarantee you won't leave hungry. The Frankfurter sandwich is noted as being easily two meals in one. Guests can also enjoy cold Bavarian beers like Ayinger, with a respectable selection that includes everything from Kölsch to Hefeweizen, perfect for pairing with hearty meals. Don't miss the Spaetzle, Saurkraut Balls, and desserts like Apple Strudel and Molten Chocolate Bundt Cake. While some dishes like the pretzel and brunch egg options may not meet every expectation, the overall experience remains charming. The outdoor area features live music and a spacious, shaded patio, making it an inviting spot to relax. The bar area offers a different vibe, and the cozy indoor seating is comfortable too. With consistently well-prepared food, great beer selections, and attentive service, Altdorf Biergarten remains a staple in Fredericksburg for a true German beer garden experience.

I’m not sure where to begin. My husband and I ate lunch on the back patio today with our dog, Dino. We were promptly greeted by our server Jo, who must have written the manual on great service. She was attentive, witty and full of information. Our food was equally as great, we’ve eaten quite a bit of bratwurst in this town in the past 5 weeks, and theirs is lights out. Oh, and to top it off the live music was awesome, check their schedule so you don’t miss Cliff Crawford.
The beer and food were both great here. Almost died trying to finish the sausage my wife ordered after eating my goulash. It really hits the spot if you were craving German food and beer. It had a nice selection of German beer too, which you would rarely find on tap I feel.
Absolutely the best food & outstanding service. Kaden will always be our server when we come back. I will tell our friends & family to come here.
