“There are several German places in Fredericksburg but I chose this one to celebrate a special event with friends and family and was happy with it. They were very accommodating in having tables for us beside each other for our big party. Prices are reasonable for quality German food. Got the pork schnitzel and it was very yummy. Good fried breading without being too thick or greasy, great sides. Everyone was happy with their meals. Highly recommended if you need a place to celebrate with great food in Fredericksburg!“

“A real German born reviewer here.Yes, yes, and yes to this place.Ambience is Western themed with some German klitsch if you pay attention.Outdoor dining area Biergarten is nice.We chose front shaded Porch outdoor area to people watch.Lively Server Stephanie (Steph) is a Rockstar. She deserves a following. The draft Beers (Kölsch) were Cold. The food was great and definitely geared toward American pallets since most will never experience the real deal in Germany anyway. My Jägerschnitzel was great. The friend ordered The Warm Shrimp Slaw, not German, but she loves Shrimp and said it was delicious.Overall we were thrilled with the Place, the Service, and the Food.I long for a Restaurant in America with only German choices, cooked by a German Grandma, but those days are the past, and this place made me feel like I was back in Germany, dining out, and enjoying a moment.Rare 5 Stars from me when it comes to authentic Ethnic dining.Good job Altdorf!Good work Steph!“

“My Missus and I lived in Germany for a few years, and walking through the door brought back memories. Our server Abby (hope I spelled that right) was great! The bread is outsourced from a local bakery, and had the perfect flavor and texture. The schnitzel was fantastic. Dark mushroom gravy, perfect breading. The house red was deep, with amazing cherry forward flavor, the wheat beer (bottled) was nicely cloudy. I would recommend anyoneoffering wheat beer to include a lemon wedge. We highly recommend.“

“Very hectic day it seems when we visited. Our waitress wasn't terrible, but definitely not great either. There was a pretty big gap in time from when she served us and when she checked back in. We were done with our food and wanted dessert. My wife and I both had time enough after we finished our food to stand in line at the restroom and go and return with our waitress still not having checked on us (we took turns). The food was good, but definitely not some of the best German food I've had in Texas. I had the Jägerschnitzel and my wife had the German Meatballs. The schnitzel was good, but the sides were pretty bland. The meatballs were good, but the spaetzle was not good at all. Apple strudel was cold and lacked flavor. Beer was nice and cold.“

“Stopped in during our visit to Fredericksburg. Nice little place we ate the dish with the Snitzel and bratwurst with a sausage, red cabbage and sauerkraut with a super friendly atmosphere. Great service loved the owner. We definitely recommend this as a stop on your time in Fredricksburg. They had other options not just German as well. So if the family is not all sold on German cuisine and you want other options this is a good choice. The wurst was good but not the best I've had here in Fredricksburg. Overall a solid place worth a stop. The red cabbage though is on point. I could eat that with every meal.“
