“It's been a few years since I've reviewed anything, but Peggy and I are back in the land of grapes and Jesus blood, aka Fredericksburg. We met up with some friends for a weekend of gluttony with wine and formage. That's fancy speak for cheese. We stopped at the Pontotoc Vineyard. Pontotoc was a community before they had an apocalypse/typhoid breakout. Now it's a ghost town. The only ghost I believe in is the Holy Ghost™ Anyway, the ladies had their famous sangrias and I opted for a Tempranillo. I'm pretty sure it's French for Temptation. But unlike Adam and Eve, I am in control. Unfortunately, we had eaten at a farm to table restaurant earlier and I had a Rev. Hank to toilet moment. I had more bubbles in my guts than any of the sparkling wines we've had. I immediately repented to my lord and savior. They say there's no fury like a woman scorned, but those people have definitely never blended a cheeseburger, wine and whiskey. The bathroom facilities are easily accessible, but a little drafty. You'll feel the angels breathe upon you while you rid yourself of sin. I highly recommend this place! Can't wait to return.“
“7th time going here. Never gets old. Very clean and taken care place. Spoke with a local and we talked about the history of this place. It's not just a country song ,but history even down to the bar. Ohh see if you can spot Marge from back in the day. She is there looking down on the guest.“
“We loved our stay at Baron’s Creek in the villas. Rented a suite for our anniversary weekend and it worked out perfect. Love the fact that the place shuts down at 5 or 6 PM and the villas residents have the grounds to themselves at that point. Also love the fact that it’s quiet time at 9 PM as well. A great place to relax and get away for a bit. Taylor was fantastic to work with for both the stay and our tastings, etc. Just one of the many reasons we are members at Baron’s Creek Vineyards.“
“We had an absolute amazing time sipping wine in the dungeon! Tye, our tour guide was very knowledgeable about the wines and history of the psychology-themed venue. However, I would advise Tye to be mindful in the future, and make eye contact with and engage everyone in small talk conversations. I don't believe it was his intention to shun people on one side of the table, but the impact was a bituncomfortable just the same.“
“Such an amazing brunch spot in Fredericksburg. Usually a 15-20 wait but so worth it. Have to try the Josephine. Don’t knock before you try it. It works so well together. Omelettes are always a hit too. Must go when you’re in town.“
“My wife and I are staying in an Airbnb nearby and decided to stop by along the way. We ate The Original Pig Sandwich and Everyone’s Favorite Pulled Pork Nachos. The sandwich was great and tangy, not too messy. The nachos were also excellent, coming with a white queso. The atmosphere was cozy and the knick-knacks around the place were neat to look at, especially the Houston Astrodome seats!“
“Stopped in for wine tasting at wild seed farms and it far exceeded any expectations. Wild Seed Farms went beyond the perfect wine tasting setting which is very intimate, formal wine room. See the picture below with a great list of wines for tasting. You also have the experience of walking the farms and seeing all of the wonderful flowers, butterfly fields and just beautiful scenery set here at this very quaint, but sophisticated establishment. This is a must stop for anyone touring the fredericksburg area looking for a great wine tasting experience with so much more. They have a large in store retail center selling everything from yard art, seeds, flowers, plants and artwork. And on just a closing note thier wine was pretty good too. 5 stars and a round of applause ? ?.“
“OMG!!! What a gem! Wine was excellent. Food was great. The show however is an amazing mix of piano bar and your best friends comfy living room. Not only would I recommend this little slice of Heaven. I will be there every single time I come this way. Thanks Perspective from your biggest fans from New Orleans!!!!!“
“You can only get one size pizza here, just be warned. So we got 2 calzones instead. It’s not my favorite thing, but friend said best he’s had in a while. We had the salad with grapes which was amazing. Friendly staff, but only seating for around 8-10 people, so more a place to grab pizza and go.“
“There are several German places in Fredericksburg but I chose this one to celebrate a special event with friends and family and was happy with it. They were very accommodating in having tables for us beside each other for our big party. Prices are reasonable for quality German food. Got the pork schnitzel and it was very yummy. Good fried breading without being too thick or greasy, great sides. Everyone was happy with their meals. Highly recommended if you need a place to celebrate with great food in Fredericksburg!“
“I came here for my bachelorette, this was my first time in Fredericksburg and the first venue we visited. Let me say, they exceeded my expectations. Everyone we talked to was so kind and extremely knowledgeable. They made my group and I feel so special and made my experience one to remember! The wine was exceptional, i have never been a fan of red wine, until now! I bought 2 reds here! They were smooth delicious and unique in flavor. I highly recommend tasting Old 300, Souzao (my favorite) and time traveler (white wine). I highly recommend visiting this venue, you will not regret it! I will definitely continue to come here when I visit Fredericksburg!“
“We had a lovely time last night listening to live music. Of course when the sun sets in the Texas Hill country the sunsets are incredible to watch. We love it here the food and service were on point. The owner and his wife were at the Club and were so kind and hospitable.“
“Our visit to Becker was something very special. Bobby rolled out the red carpet and gave our group of four the ultimate VIP experience. His tour was memorable, we absolutely won't forget our time there! Our tour included about 10 tastings, barrel samples, reserves, the private cellar, charcuterie and Bobby's vast knowledge of the history and operation of Becker. He is such an asset to Becker. If you are traveling out to Fredericksburg, you have a ton of choices in vineyards. Make sure Becker is part of your plans. You will absolutely love it!“
“I’ve been consistent with practicing yoga for the first time in my life, thanks to Good Foundation and owner Shelby! Almost two years of wonderful classes; all levels, no judgement, cozy space, and loving the variety of class offerings. Aside from classes, Shelby is an old soul and pours her creative writing and wisdom into wonderful emails to encourage all. The community that has formed in this space and is ever-welcoming and ever-growing!“
“Came here for brunch with a big party. Lots of seats on weekday lunch time. Got the hangover omelette was it was yummy. Everyone was happy with their meals ranging from pork chilaquiles, french toast, pancakes, traditional brunch food. Highly recommended!“
“Visited this Mini-Donut food truck while in town (located in front of Ace) on a mini-vacation. I must say, these are absolutely amazing! The person that took our order was incredibly nice and made it an effort to make our first visit here an enjoyable one, and he did just that! We had the pumpkin spice (seasonal), truffle, and cinnamon roll flavored donuts (all separate orders, can't mix and match - pumpkin spice being a top choice for me!) and they are out of this world, simply put! Incredibly soft and flavorful, and when eaten when they are fresh/warm, they are some of the best donuts you'll ever have. When in Fredericksburg, you MUST visit them! I highly recommend!“
“A real German born reviewer here.Yes, yes, and yes to this place.Ambience is Western themed with some German klitsch if you pay attention.Outdoor dining area Biergarten is nice.We chose front shaded Porch outdoor area to people watch.Lively Server Stephanie (Steph) is a Rockstar. She deserves a following. The draft Beers (Kölsch) were Cold. The food was great and definitely geared toward American pallets since most will never experience the real deal in Germany anyway. My Jägerschnitzel was great. The friend ordered The Warm Shrimp Slaw, not German, but she loves Shrimp and said it was delicious.Overall we were thrilled with the Place, the Service, and the Food.I long for a Restaurant in America with only German choices, cooked by a German Grandma, but those days are the past, and this place made me feel like I was back in Germany, dining out, and enjoying a moment.Rare 5 Stars from me when it comes to authentic Ethnic dining.Good job Altdorf!Good work Steph!“
“I went on a wine tour with 11 other family members on a girl's trip and I highly recommend this location for sweet wines and mimosas. My two favorite wines that we sampled were the Serena Red Wine and Sori Gramella Mascato d'Asti. Both wines were sweet and a majority of our group bought both bottles. If you go on the 290 Wine Bus Tour, I recommend stopping at this location. Along with the good wines, the snickerdoodle cookies were absolutely delicious. They are nice and soft and crumble in your mouth. The staff were very helpful with selecting wines and savory treats. Bathrooms were very clean as well.“
“Martin, the owner, greeted me as soon as I stepped into the quaint wine tasting room. I told him that we want tastings, 6 people, and he immediately got the glasses ready. After taking us through the wines for tasting, I bought a bottle to have with our party outdoors. Angela, the owner's wife came out to check on us and see how we were. She was able to do that even though a wine tour had arrived. The facility is beautiful and the wine is the best I've tasted in Texas so far I .“
“We had a great day visiting Fiesta Winery. Shanay was knowledgeable and friendly. I learned a few things about wine. We used to visit wine country in California and Solvang but there’s something really special about the welcoming feeling we were greeted with here. A real gem of a place with lovely staff.“
“Barb is absolutely amazing! The atmosphere and vibe of Six Shooter Cellars is always fun and always keeps me going back. Whether it’s for the daily dose of fun animal photos, tasty meads, or a dose of reality, Barb is always sure to provide it. Her mead selection is the best around. 10/10 recommend! Go visit Six Shooter! It doesn’t disappoint!“
“As regulars at Cross Mountain Vineyard's, I cannot recommend it enough. The wines are top-notch, the prices are fair, and the service is always exceptional. It's our favorite spot for a reason – quality, value, and service all in one place.“
“Hye cider is hands down the best cider in Texas. You honestly can’t get better. It’s not overly sweet like most ciders and offers a variety of ABVs for every taste. Don’t pass them up at HEB or go in for a tasting and ask to speak to the head cider maker Nate, he’s always willing to talk shop (if he’s not busy!) and is very knowledgeable about Texas booze in general!“
“Michelle, owner of Namaste, catered an entire weekend retreat for me. She did an amazing job! The food was wonderful, the presentation was beautiful, & her presence was a welcome addition to the group! If you're looking for healthy food that tastes delicious, you definitely want to eat here.“
“First off, loved the fact they refurbished an old car dealership and kept the sign! Awesome. The wine was delicious. We had a flight and each of our selections was well crafted. The store is cute - we had to buy some of the wine glasses! And we loved the large outdoor patio. Knowledgeable and friendly staff. Great, enjoyable experience!“
“We were put on a wait and were seated faster than the estimate given. They said as long as we answered the phone when they called, they would hold the table - so we were able to wander to some nearby shops while waiting. When we got seated, drink order was taken almost immediately. Once food was ordered it came out in about ten minutes and was hot and delicious. I had banana pancakes - soft, fluffy and hot! Very good. My wife had biscuits and gravy, scrambled eggs with cheese and bacon. All of it was freaking perfect! We are just visiting but if I lived here, this would be a go-to breakfast stop!“
“Super cute spot outside of Fredericksburg, they have a brewery and a winery! A couple of us did a wine tasting and a couple of us got the beer flights. The Lager was good, the Blonde was not good, the IPA was decent and the Amber was a little too sweet. They have a good selection of different wines, dry or sweet. They have a wine tram which was soooo cute to take you from the winery to the brewery and back. A manager came over and checked on us, that was very nice.“
“We were referred here from Limestone Charm RV Resort a few miles down the road. I cannot say enough good things about this winery! The wine was superb, and the atmosphere/decor was so cool. Everyone was so friendly! Such a beautiful place to enjoy some great wine and relax. We will definitely be back! 5 stars!“
“We had the old fashioned burgers. They were very well made and flavorful. Hamburgers come plain so just ask for condiments. We also had mixed drinks and they were very very good! Housefrozen margarita and the best bloody mary! We ate out in the patio and the atmosphere was good.“
“As members of Safari, we brought our daughter and son-in-law to enjoy the wonderful wine and atmosphere.Casey (KC) was in charge of our group and she was so knowledgable, professional, friendly and fun that our guests decided to join the club as well.On the other hand, we came back the next day to celebrate our daughters 30th birthday (yes, that day was her exact birthday), and even though we were all member now, the person that served us, denied any special treatment for the birthday girl by telling us that "as members, we already had a complimentary glass of wine".We left very dissapointed by the second treatment they (she) gave us.“
