The brisket is delicious. I tried the tamales some of the best tamales I've had in a long time. They have banana pudding today and that was really good too. I definitely definitely recommend this place. Especially for the brisket and tamales.

The loaded potato with brisket is absolutely excellent. And I'm not a big tamale guy, but the tamales here are top notch!
We got off to a late start (swimming with an 8 year old definitely takes priority) so was obviously worried when we got there after 1 pm. They were sold out of a lot of stuff, not much left, but we were able to get a taco plate, half pound of brisket, half pound of sausage, and a piece of their cake. Wow, everything was so good. Tortillas, even though they were cold, were amazing with the brisket and sausage. Wife loved her tacos. Daughter loved the cake. This isn't a tourist trap (they knew everyone else by first name), so my family and I had to go there. So worth it. Might have to go in first think Thursday for tamales.
Very very very bland no flavor at all for thier food nothing has taste even thier Sala is water and way over price. There is plenty of Mexican restaurants on the island that's actually good I know everyone is supporting this small business because of thier grand parents but they are literally serving trash! The service is ok.

I’m not a tamale gal, but I am a Pennie’s tamale gal! My friends suggested this place after they saw it on the Texas Bucket List show. This is a tiny little tamale hut in a house looking type structure off the Seawall in Galveston. This is a pickup place only. There is no space to dine. The entrance is literally only able to hold 6-7 people, and that would be tight. The 4 of us were inside and another 2 came in, so I very well know the size of the space.We arrived right before closing so they only had the pork tamales left. The service was great even though they were about to close, and the tamales were piping hot. We ate in the car since we were all so hungry. The tamales were delicious! Like I said, I’m not a tamale fan, but I am a fan of this place! The salsa is Smokey and perfect as a topper. I will be back. Great job, guys!

My co-worker introduced me to this little Gem and I took my fiancé here this morning he came with the attitude that brisket doesn’t belong in a Taco but after his first bite he gave them a 10 out of 10. Definitely recommend this place!

ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS!!! My goodness, if this ain't Tex-Mex then idk what to tell you!!!! Brisket tacos were PERFECTION!!! Rice and beans were Exceptional! Brisket was absolute GOLD!!! This is the closest thing I've found in the area that reminds of bbq in the RGV! Tamales were fluffy and oh SO GOOD!!! I almost started crying because the tamales tasted just like my grandmother's RIP. This place is legit and ain't nobody gonna tell me different! THANK YOU Pennies Tex Mex for being authentic and true to how bbq is supposed to be done in Texas. God bless you all at Pennies Tex Mex cuz y'all are doing a beautiful thing!!! ?? SAS!!!
