“In 2022, I took a 25,000 mile road trip to all four corners of the US. The joke was that Brownsville would be the fifth of four corners. On the way there I was tired, hot and hungry, and told myself I wanted tacos and a beer. When I saw the sign on the front of the restaraunt that read "Alex Tacos & Cerveza", a U-turn was made immediately. I was the only customer in the restaunt, and also the only English speaker in the building (that I encountered). Apparently my Spanish is so bad that the Modelo I ordered was served as a Michelob Ultra Light. That's ok, because the food was so darn good! Homemade chips were served with a smooth, orange colored salsa, the likes of which I have never seen before and was amazing. I don't recall the name of my tacos, but they were grilled beef, served with grilled and fresh white onions, cilnatro, lime, and yet another colorful salsa, this one lime green and tasty as can be. (I apologize to my hosts for not knowing the names of their amazing creations, but what's in a name when it tastes this good?) I live in New Mexico and am no stranger to really good tacos. I have sampled many during two trips around the country on my bike. The best tacos in the nation? I haven't any better so far!“

“The food was great, but I could smell the fabuloso from the parking lot. It was very strong and burned my eyes for a bit but once I got used to it I didn’t mind. There were some roaches in the ceiling, but the staff was trained in killing them. The food was worth it, so I would go back but to one of their newer locations. “We ordered a hamburger which the bottom bun of the burger was soggy but it was ok, red tacos were delicious they came with beans and rice but the beans were salty, and the brisket tacos they were excellent. The lady is very nice and sweet but she takes a long while to get the order done, but I don't blame her it looks like she's the only one doing everything, if your behind someone you'll have to wait for a long while for her to finish their order, and then yours, so it'd be best to call in and order in advance.“

“This place is authentic! We couldn't have been happier to eat here. I had the hamburger and requested to have beans added, and they did it for me. The salsa was good and there were plenty of limones. The service was perfect, and so was the atmosphere. Next time we visit Rio Grande, we'll make sure to stop by and eat here again. We had no problem finding a parking spot and the restaurant was clean.“
