Firstly, I usually always past by this place! I finally decided to eat here for lunch! I was greeted by my Server Carla, very sweet and attentive. Upon being seated, I couldn’t help but notice the owners never once greeted me or said a word to me as a matter of fact, even though the place was practically empty! To my surprise 2 other parties came in and was greeted by them with warmth. As I watch and eat my meal, everytime I glance over at the lady she was just staring at me, like I didn’t belong there. I tried not to let it bother me to much but after I ask for my check, Carla and I chatted about the taste of the food which was nice. I gesture to the lady (owner) a thumbs up with a smile and she just gave me a condescending look. I was really taken back by her attitude and it made me wonder if I wasn’t welcomed here. That made me feel extremely uncomfortable! Meanwhile, she’s smiling ear to ear with other cx’s that barely interacted with her. My take away is if you own a restaurant, be sure to be kind to ALL your customers from different backgrounds.

I used to come her when in worked in the medical center back 2019 and the food is still yummy to this day. The ambiance of Asahi feels like you arrived at a relatives house for a home cooked, comfort meal. My go to lunch order is miso soup, Crunchy roll, and Rock N Roll (added cream cheese).

Worst service experience ever. Our server was rude and condescending when I was trying to get information on what gluten free options they have. Being that I have celiacs and I am allergic to gluten, I was taken back when the server tried to tell me that gluten is carbs and rice. Dietary restrictions are nothing to mess around with and she should at the very minimum have an understanding of what gluten is and not be passive and rude over something that can literally be life or death. I did not feel comfortable staying to eat after feeling like she did not have my best interest in mind and trying to tell me that imitation crab is gluten free when it is a known fact in the gluten free world that it is not not to mention she was convinced rice was gluten (as stated before).

Ken is awesome he is the sushi chef and owner if you want to have awesome sushi for a great price go here. Sit at the bar and have a chat with him. you can learn a lot about sushi and different types of fish that he serves. you might even catch him preparing a fresh fish in the corner which is really fun to watch
