My wife and I visited El Tiempo Cantina at Vintage Park on Sunday, July 5, 2026, around 5:00 PM.
Overall, it was a below average dining experience with a few highlights and a few disappointments.
The service was good. Our waiter was attentive, friendly, and took the time to answer all of our questions without making us feel rushed.
As for the food, my enchiladas were good and were the highlight of my meal. The tamales also had good flavor, but they were much spicier than I expected because of the amount of peppers used. If you enjoy spicy tamales, they may be a great choice, but they were a little beyond my personal comfort level.
One thing both my wife and I agreed on was that our dishes had too much sauce. It tended to overpower the food instead of complementing it.
The biggest letdown was the margarita. It tasted like it had very little alcohol and lacked the bold, balanced flavor I expect from a restaurant known for its Tex-Mex and margaritas. I bought the Gold and it was a total letdown. It also tasted like subpar tequila was also used.
Finally, we felt the prices were a bit high for the overall quality of the food and drinks. While we don’t mind paying premium prices, we expect the quality to match, and this visit didn’t quite deliver that level of value.
Overall, the excellent service certainly helped. However, the drinks, heavy use of sauce, and value for the price leave room for improvement. I’d be willing to give them another try in the future, but this visit earned a solid 2 out of 5 stars.

We were celebrating a birthday. There were 16 of us and only 1 server who did her best. The Fajitas were over cooked. Very uncomfortable and tight accomodations upstairs hallway next to the stairs. Much better places to get good Mexican food.

Update to last year's review: We went for Fathers Day lunch, party of 3. It was not overy crowded, we were told they dont take reservations, but we were seated immediately upstairs. My husband and I ordered the 1lb, Ahi Tuna fajitas to share and my daughter ordered the Texas Burito (special order of Carnitas/Pork). It took the waitress a ridiculous 21min to finally return to our table and tell us they were out of Tuna (the whole reason we went there), so we had to change our order to share the fish tacos. It took them another 27min to bring out our food, so now we've been there over 1hr 20min. My daughter's Special Pork burrito came out made with Beef Brisket, not what we ordered (it was very bland at best), my husband ran out of water, then he had to finish our daughter's glass of water and still no sign of the waitress to check on us, refill drinks or anything. BAD SERVICE!!!!! Not sure if we will go back.

I wanted to have a sit down experience for my guests to thank them for attending and to enjoy their ,memories of my husband and each other. I recently hosted a private luncheon upstairs, and Aldair, the manager, was the contact I had. I cannot say enough about this gentleman. From start to finish, it was a flawless event. He could not have been any nicer and more accommodating. The whole staff was very attentive and we had 55 people and no one ever had to wait for refills or more food. Thank you Aldair!!!

Need to a great place to take dad today then look no further than El tiempo Mexican restaurant on Louetta. The service is outstanding and very friendly ,the atmosphere is colorful and the food is great. Start your morning off with small pastries made locally for them to snack on with their delicious coffee and then try to choose between their variety of brunch/breakfast choices to for sure hit anyone’s “sweet or savory spot”. My only warning eat slow the food is so wonderful you’ll fill up and be taking home leftovers. This restaurant has been a hit since my first visit and continues to hit a home run with me and my family.
Food was great, service was meh, but dang this place was SO LOUD.

I find this establishment nice from the outside but what matters is good quality tasting food and good service. This restaurant lacks both. Service was rushed waiter skipped taking my sons order from how fast he was moving. I was seated upstairs eventhough I had an infant in a stroller. To make things worse my family was sat right under a leaky ac vent that kept dripping on me. And the supposedly world famous fajitas were by far the most tasteless fajitas I have ever had. A little seasoning wouldn't hurt! I am pretty sure my rice was bag rice that you just heat and eat. And if I had to bet money on it I think the taco meat as well. I will not be returning.

Enjoyed the carne guisada....which is a benchmark dish to judge a cooking staff. They pasd with high mark and the other entres on the table visually thumbs up. Note: Kids Chicken tenders are a meal for an adult. I grabbed one for quality test from my grandson James.

Ordered the fish of the day which was rockfish and oooh definitely the best fish ive had in a while! Waitress was constantly checking on us and the music was very nice!
