“Ripcord is always a solid choice when you just want a good drink in a chill environment. I really appreciate the calming, dark atmosphere inside—it’s perfect for decompressing. The bartenders are attentive and quick, and the drink prices are standard for the neighborhood.
One of the best things about this place is the crowd. It feels very welcoming and non-contentious, without the cliquey judgment you find at some of the other bars down the street. They’ve also done a great job updating the outdoor patio; there is plenty of seating and nice little areas for private conversations.
Note that they do have drag shows, which isn't really my thing, but they are usually late enough at night that you can enjoy a quiet evening before they start.“

“As a queer woman, this is one of the only truly safe spaces I have in Houston. It’s one of the reasons I have been able to embrace myself for the first time!
The vibes are always amazing especially because of their DJ’s and the staff is so kind. Drinks are very reasonably priced, a lot of them under $10. We are so lucky to have Pearl!“

“I made a reservation for the burlesque show and I was NOT disappointed. The entire staff was super kind and happy to answer all of my questions. The food was amazing. The staff was incredibly kind and they were more than happy to laugh and joke with us. The seating was comfortable and perfectly placed to see the show. I will definitely be going back to try out there pool side reservations as well.“

“Loveeee the different vibes in this bar! This was the first bar i visited in Montrose and I loved every bit from the patio, to the karaoke, to the pool hall and dancers upstairs! Music was great when I went and everyone here is so fun and friendly.“

“Now I tell you what I went over yonder to the watcha mcall it and I did done go when the kids be a sleepin and dreamin bout beef jerky. My wife be not knowin bout this either but them guys in this dagum establishment know how to dagnab it in the American heart. Them beer be good to because of the dagum that you have never heard about but remind me about the times of propane grills and John Deere lawn mowers. I like gay bars!“
