Izakaya Wa Reviews
This is my new go to spot for sushi in Houston. I love the River Oaks location
🍜🍛🍙🍤🍢🍶🍵🫖🍮🎂🍥🍱🍗🦐 it was all good....
DO NOT EAT HERE! My wife and I were not seated because our 5 month old was in a stroller. After stating that the stroller collapsed to a baby carrier, we were still not seated. Brian, who said that he was a manager, was extremely unprofessional and not empathetic. If you are a parent, do not support this business. They should be ashamed of themselves. This was blatant discrimination.

Izakaya Wa is an authentic Japanese restaurant known for its fresh, delicious food and friendly service at reasonable prices. The menu offers a wide variety of options, including daily half-udon/half-rice lunch specials, delicious curries, katsu, and top-notch sushi. Customers particularly recommend the torimune fried skewers, sushi dinner with fresh fish, and the matcha parfait. The restaurant maintains a typical atmosphere, and the service is unobtrusive, allowing diners to enjoy their meal at their own pace. The staff is friendly, even when short-staffed. The Beef Udon has a flavorful yet light broth and high-quality noodles. The Chicken Katsu Curry is crispy and savory, and the rice is delicious. The Cucumber Sunomono is simple and refreshing. All the sushi/sashimi is delicious, fresh, and presented well. The busboys do a fantastic job, efficiently clearing empty dishes with great manners. The restroom is clean. The restaurant is wheelchair accessible and kid-friendly, especially outside. Parking is now paid.
Visitors praise the amazing food, especially the tuna that melts in your mouth and the flavorful curry for the chicken katsu. Reservations are recommended, especially on Friday evenings. The Japanese-style atmosphere reminds customers of a real izakaya in Japan, and the staff is attentive and helpful, even encouraging additional orders. While the parking can be a bit challenging, the overall experience is positive, with a cool ambiance and satisfying dishes.
