“Ordered the jhampong (짬뽕) and it was one of the best I've had outside of korea. Lots of seafood, noodles were cooked just right, and broth was favorable and spicy, but not too spicy. Service was also fast and courteous. Definitely going back to try their black bean noodles (짜장면) and the sizzling rice dish.“

“After reading all the reviews, I chose to take my sister here before a doctors appointment. The food and service was incredible. Prompt service, seating, and ordering. Excellent fish sauce, which is important to me, since I can't stand peanut sauce, though my sister loved it. The summer rolls were tight, full and did not fall apart until the last bite. crispy and delicious spring rolls. Just an excellent experience from start to finish. The fish sauce was so good, I wanted to purchase 2 3oz containers to go, and I'm still not sure if I was charged for them. I didn't care, and I didn't check.“

“I recently had the pleasure of dining at the best Chinese rice noodle house in Chinatown Houston and it was an exceptional experience. This noodle house offers an array of mouthwatering appetizers that set the stage for an unforgettable meal. The star of the show was undoubtedly the Chinese rice noodles. They were perfectly cooked, with a delightful chewy texture that left me craving more. The wide variety of noodle options allowed for a customized dining experience, catering to all tastes. We tried their signature items like the chicken soup rice noodle and the Mala rice noodle soup. The appetizers were a highlight, with an extensive selection that included sticky rice cake, marinated pig feet, and cucumber salad. The sticky rice cake was a delightful blend of sweet and savory, with a satisfyingly chewy consistency. The marinated pig feet were tender and flavorful, a true delicacy. The cucumber salad provided a refreshing contrast to the rich flavors of the other dishes, with a delightful balance of tanginess and crunch. The service at JiBeiChuan noodle house was impeccable, and the staff were friendly and attentive, adding to the overall positive experience. The ambiance of the restaurant was inviting, making it a great place to enjoy a meal with family and friends. Overall, this brand new Chinese rice noodle house is a must-visit for anyone looking to savor authentic and delicious Chinese cuisine. The combination of delectable rice noodles and a tantalizing selection of appetizers ensures an unforgettable culinary journey. I can't wait to return and explore more of their menu. And since it’s a authentic Chinese franchising noodle house, I don’t have to fly back to China to enjoy it. Highly recommended and will definitely come back.“

“While looking to enjoy authentic Thai cuisine with a colleague, I was invited to dine at Aroy Thai Cafe, a charming and welcoming spot that immediately set the tone for a great meal. The atmosphere was warm, relaxed, and inviting, making it an excellent choice for both casual and business dining.
We began our meal with a standout appetizer: a beautifully prepared Thai papaya salad. Bursting with freshness, it combined crisp shredded papaya, juicy tomatoes, crushed peanuts, lime, and a subtle touch of fish sauce. The flavors were vibrant and perfectly balanced, refreshing enough that I could have happily made a full meal out of it alone.
For my main course, I ordered the yellow curry with shrimp, served alongside a portion of steamed rice. The curry was rich, aromatic, and full of depth, with just the right level of spice to bring out the flavors without overwhelming the palate. The shrimp were cooked perfectly, and the portion size for both the appetizer and entrée was generous without being excessive.
The overall dining experience was excellent, from the quality of the food to the attentiveness of the service. Aroy Thai Cafe is versatile enough for many occasions: a quick lunch, a relaxed dinner, takeout for a cozy night in, or even a casual business meal. Whether you’re dining with family, friends, colleagues, or simply on your own, this spot delivers authentic, flavorful Thai dishes in an inviting setting.
I highly recommend Aroy Thai Cafe to anyone in Houston looking for fresh, delicious Thai food paired with warm hospitality.“

“Great experience overall!
I first went in without realizing that the ownership had changed. It used to be run by a Korean family, and I was a little worried the food wouldn’t be as good as before—but I was wrong. The new owner has done a not bad job with the food.
We ordered the spicy squid, beef soup, Vietnamese sandwich, and seafood pancake.
Seafood pancake: I’d been craving this for a while, so I ordered it right away. Unfortunately, it was a little burnt this time and didn’t taste as good as usual. (Tip: order it first since it takes some time to prepare.) ⭐ 2.5/5
Beef soup: The broth was excellent—rich and flavorful. However, I wasn’t a fan of the ingredients inside. I expected vegetables like cabbage or mushrooms, but instead there were long, thin pieces that looked a bit odd. Still, ⭐ 3/5 (all points for the broth).
Spicy squid: Absolutely fantastic! ⭐ 5/5
Vietnamese sandwich: My friend really enjoyed it. ⭐ 5/5
Service was good, and overall the food was solid. The only downside is that this place is far from my home, so I can’t come as often as I’d like. SAD!“

“My sister and I did the Omakase, and amazing is a massive understatement. This was hands down the best sushi I have ever had, and I will happily pronounce that I believe this is the best sushi resturant in the city of Houston. Angela, our waitress was so wonderful, and an aboslute joy the entire evening. Chef Andy's presentation and flavors for each dish were beyond immaculate. I cannot recommend Sasaki enough, and if you're wanting the best Omakase experience in the city, this is the spot to go.“

“After driving for 14 hours, this restaurant was the perfect escape from the car and Houston traffic! Everything was so delicious and as we complimented everything placed in front of us, the server recommended we try the cabbage and ginger (which came with the meal), and it made the meal so much better. We had a wonderful experience there and had some of the best dumplings, potstickers, and bao of all time!“

“My wife and I first date was here and we struck gold. This is definitely the best pho and spring rolls place we both have ever been to in our lives (haven’t ordered anything else yet). We come back regularly and can’t say enough good things about this place. We apparently just missed the owner so I didn’t get a chance to thank him. Thank you. You made the goat pho joint. I have recommended this to everyone. 10/10“

“Got the mapo tofu, sizzling seafood with black bean sauce, hot spicy chicken, rice noodles with beef satay sauce, salty fish chicken eggplant clay pot (without fish). The black bean sauce on the seafood was delicious, and the noodles were also very good. I'm used to Sichuan mapo tofu, but this mapo tofu was a pleasant change. Our waitress kindly told us the salty fish was too salty, so we just got the eggplant and chicken. The chicken was a little lacking in flavor, but the eggplant was delicious. Fast and great service overall. Would love to come back to try congee and other dishes. This was great food for a rainy day“

“Best Vietnamese I have had ever - HANDS DOWN. The thought of their eye round steak, flank and brisket pho makes me salivate. Their fresh sugar cane juice is made when you order it, their soda chanh (soda lemonade) is so tasty and refreshing. The fried rice, vermicelli plates, rice plates, spring rolls, egg rolls, EVERYTHING here is delicious. It’s run by an older Vietnamese couple and they are sweet and you can tell these are family recipes, their food is superb to the Vietnamese I have had anywhere in Houston.“

“We were there last weekend and they were the best and most authentic tasting noodles we’ve ever had (and my husband and I have tried many places)! The service and atmosphere was great and the staff were kind and patient despite my son crying much of our time there. If we’re ever in the Houston area again this is for sure a stop we’ll be making again! P.S. the sweet tea was perfect 🙂“

“A Hidden Gem That Proves Why It’s One of the Top 3 Best Chinese Restaurants in Houston
Flavor House (味来人家) has been around for three years, and honestly, it has become my go-to whenever I crave traditional, authentic Chinese food. But recently, they leveled up with a brand-new seafood series that feels like a “Crawfish World” collided with Chinese flavors — and let me tell you, it’s something you simply cannot miss.
Instead of crawfish season, imagine feasting on fatty blue crab, jumbo Gulf shrimp, marinated cucumber, golden potatoes, and savory sausage — all drenched in their signature garlic sauce. Whoever came up with this combination is a genius. That cucumber soaks in the garlic flavor perfectly, and when you add the potatoes and sausage, every bite is addictive. I ordered the entire seafood platter in different flavors, and it was so good I’ve already gone back multiple times.
But here’s the real kicker: once you finish the platter, don’t stop. Toss some noodles straight into the leftover garlic sauce, and suddenly you’ve unlocked a whole new universe of flavor. Honestly, it might be the best bite in Houston.
And the classics? Still unbeatable.
• Triple Fried Chicken: crispy outside, juicy and tender inside — never greasy, always satisfying.
• Deep-Fried Pork Ribs: my first time trying this and I was blown away. How did no one tell me this dish was hiding here all along? It’s crunchy, flavorful, and ridiculously good.
So whether you’re a fan of crawfish boils with the whole shebang, or you’re ready to challenge yourself with some of the best traditional Chinese food in Houston, Flavor House is where you need to be. This place is not just a meal — it’s an experience that keeps pulling you back.

“Tucked away in Alief, where Houston’s Chinatown has grown into one of the city’s richest food destinations, you can find some of the most comforting and authentic dishes outside of Vietnam. Alief has long been known as a hub of cultural diversity, where restaurants aren’t just businesses—they’re extensions of family kitchens and traditions carried across oceans. From Cantonese barbecue shops to Vietnamese noodle houses, this neighborhood has shaped Houston’s reputation as a food city.
Quan Ba Ky is one of those gems. I came specifically to try their Bún Suông, a specialty noodle soup you don’t see everywhere. The broth is light yet deeply flavorful, with just the right balance of savory and sweet. The star, of course, is the shrimp paste “suông,” shaped into tender little patties that hold a delicate bite. Paired with rice vermicelli, herbs, and crisp vegetables, the soup feels both refreshing and comforting—perfect for Houston’s unpredictable weather.
What makes this bowl stand out isn’t just the taste, but also how it connects to the wider story of food in Alief. Dishes like Bún Suông remind me that Chinatown isn’t only about dim sum or pho—it’s a crossroads of flavors, histories, and immigrant experiences that have come together to create something uniquely Houston. I’m proud to live in the heart of it, surrounded by so much culture and incredible food.
If you’re looking for something beyond the usual bowls of pho, Bún Suông at Quan Ba Ky is absolutely worth the visit.“
