“Well I drive through Jourdanton everyday for work. Well today I decided that instead of my normal get some delicious tacos and go I would try their French Toast plate.. I don’t know if it was because it was a special but the two eggs were perfectly cooked and the potatoes had a nice crisp with a soft center and the bacon was crisp and tasty.. But the main item was what I was after. I’m not sure if it was the two Texas sized pieces of toast or that it had been grilled just enough or just right, but it could have been the sugary flavor that was sprinkled on top. But this by far had to be the best French toast plate that I’ve ever had. Thanks again👍👍”

I also really like how early they open and the fact they have a drive through. When you buy several donuts, you receive donut holes for free which is just lovely!”

Jim Collums-Owner is an amazing man who always has stories of all the years growing up on the family farm. You will see windmills on the property as he has a love of windmills his previous generations built and maintained windmills. He is also responsible for moving the strawberry festival to its current location years ago. That story is absolutely amazing! The winery building is a one of a kind. Every where you look there is antiques which each one has their own story and Mr. Collums knows them all. The wine is the best in Texas and they oldest winery in Texas. Head out to Poteet Texas and check it out for yourself and take the family. While your there Tell ‘em “Heart Of The Hill Country sent ya””

“I finally had the opportunity to try out True Texas BBQ for the first time a few days ago at the HEB in Pleasanton. I'll start by saying I'm beyond picky about brisket.....can't be too fatty, can't be dry or too chewy and the tiniest bit of gristle and the whole meal will go in the garbage......you get the picture. Anyway, heading in to pick up a few grocery items while visiting my niece in Jourdanton, the first thing to catch my eye was the True Texas BBQ counter just as I realized I hadn't had lunch. I grabbed a brisket plate (lean) with potato salad and creamed corn and pigged out. I'm SO glad I did!!!

The brisket was tender and flavorful, and the the spicy BBQ sauce was perfect with it. The creamed corn was the best I've ever tasted and perfect with the brisket. I grabbed my basketful of groceries and headed back to the BBQ counter to grab more for my husband's dinner that night. For him, I ordered the fattier cut of brisket, the creamed corn and the brisket beans. Of course, I sampled the beans as he happily enjoyed his dinner. Sooooooo good! It's a good thing that Pleasanton is 30 minutes away or I might never cook again. Probably going to try the stuffed baked potato with brisket next trip.

I also want to give kudos to the associates. They were so friendly and helpful, a joy to spend a few minutes with. I actually met Theresa, the pitmaster for the Pleasanton store. I learned that the BBQ was made in the store, not in a plant miles away and trucked to each location. I'll be back, for sure. It was obvious that both employees took pride in producing the best product and giving the best customer service possible. They aced both, for sure.

If you haven't tried Texas True BBQ from HEB, do yourself a favor. You won't be sorry, especially if you visit the Pleasanton store.”
