“I lived only 30 minutes from the Driftwood location of Salt Lick when I worked in the Texas Hill Country. I craved it then, but I crave it even more now that I'm nearly five hours away. So delicious and who doesn't want their picture next to the pit?“

“When we first visited this restaurant, we were immediately greeted by the owners, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. Normally, I don’t enjoy dining with my children because I worry about getting them to sit down. However, they had a charming little area for the kids to play, which made the experience much more enjoyable for both of us. The food was incredible, and let’s not forget about the dessert. I haven’t had a homemade pie like that in ages. We’ll definitely be returning to this place.“

Bartenders and waitstaff are very professional and courteous. Later we ordered Tortilla Soup. The rich, savory broth was a delight, with tender chicken, a creamy base, and perfectly fried tortilla strips adding a satisfying crunch that balanced the smooth, rich flavors. This experience was a symphony of sights, and tastes, where a delicious, comforting bowl of soup felt like a special treat in an extraordinary setting. We are looking forward to returning here again to experience more food and cocktail options.“

“Great first time experience. Waitress was very nice and attentive. I ordered the country fried top sirloin with mashed potatoes, scratch baked BBQ beans with brisket and a house salad. Everything was made well. The beans were pretty good, a little spicy but I like spice. Not so much where it's uncomfortable but just enough to give it a nice flavor. The atmosphere was pretty good. Not so loud that you couldn't enjoy a good meal and a nice conversation with family and friends. There wasn't a long wait and we went around 2pm. They pretty much got us seated as soon as we walked in with a party of 5. I definitely recommend eating here. We didn't pay the bill this time around but from the menu prices range between $15-$30.“

“We have visited this location annually specifically for a beef rib and it never disappoints. The brisket and smoked chicken are always good. The sides are always good. Restaurant and bathrooms are always clean. In addition, besides good food the young men working the counter are always friendly and go above and beyond. Great staff.“

“Pennington's Cakes was absolutely incredible to work with for our wedding! They created a beautiful dessert bar that everyone loved — lemon bars, sugar cookies with the sweetest wedding-themed icing, rich brownies, and even some gluten-free cupcakes (which our gluten-free guests couldn’t stop raving about!). I wanted a simple, lemon cake with minimal vanilla icing and it turned out and tasted just how I wanted it! So good!

They were so patient with my indecisiveness, super responsive, and somehow managed to pull everything together on a very short turnaround. Everything looked amazing and tasted even better. Highly recommend Pennington Cakes for anyone wanting delicious desserts and wonderful service!“
