Dario is so kind! He makes all the calzone with the intent to make people smile while eating! The calzones are amazing, a perfect ratio of cheesy goodness to sausage and pepperoni! It’s amazing and I DEFINITELY RECOMMEND!!! It’s like eating happiness :)

Wonderful experience here. We ordered a calzone to share. The man behind the counter noticed we were sharing and told us he’d pick the biggest one for us (unnecessary, but kind). Calzone was delicious, service was great. We both enjoyed. A good lunch for ~$10! Will be back.

First of all I’m from Houston and I’m a serious foodie. Pizza is one of my all time favorite foods as well. I actually use to own a bbq restaurant several years ago. I’m working here in Lubbock for the next few months and I was craving some good pizza like back home and decided to see who the best rated pizza was in the area. Dario’s had the best reviews by far so I decided to give them a try. I was really hopeful when they didn’t have a website or menu online and most of the people commenting on the place said there is long wait times and that it’s the best pizza they ever had. Im not trying to be mean but if you locals really think this is the best pizza you’ve ever had then I feel sorry for you. The major problem with this establishment is it’s using Sysco brand ingredients. In particular this pizza vendor is using the Arrezzio brand which is owned by Sysco and it’s the same mass produced garbage that’s in a lot of these restaurants that are failing. None of the ingredients from this brand are fresh whatsoever. The crust is premade and frozen, the sauce and even the mushrooms come from a can. None of the vegetables are fresh and all come Pre-diced in giant plastic bags. All the ingredients are loaded with preservatives and chemicals. Go look at the ingredient list yourself. This is generic mass produced pizza that’s similar to frozen pizza. It’s simply put together and reheated. Paying over $20 dollars for this type of pizza is crazy. Now I will give the owner credit for having a really nice gas fed pizza oven. It gives the crust a nice texture and cooks the pizza perfectly. This is the only reason I gave a two star review instead of a one star. If he used fresh ingredients with that oven then he would no doubt have the best pizza around. But he uses cheap ingredients with a good oven. It’s the same equivalency as owning a sports car and putting regular gas in it. Nice cars like that deserve premium gas. It’s a shame his Rolls-Royce of an oven is cooking that slop. I really hope the owner of this company sees this comment and changes his food vendor and lazy ways. Take the time and make your dough and sauce in house from scratch. Have fresh ingredients like basil, tomato, garlic and mozzarella. If you don’t make these changes then you are basically serving the same pizza that the pizza shops in the mall serve.
The best in town I’ve been eating Dario’s calzones since I was 12 when he was as under the name one guy from Italy crazywhere now we are Tacoin is at now and now he has his own place the food is top tier he is an amazing person you have to try it. You will no regret it

I’m fairly new to Lubbock, so I researched local pizza restaurants online; I read reviews, looked at photos, and browsed the menu. Dario’s was an excellent choice! Dario approached me at the counter as I was describing what I like to the assistant. He asked me my preferences, and I told him olive oil instead of marinara, lots of veggies, and pepperoni. He asked me twice if I had any allergies, which impressed me. He even asked if I wanted him to wipe clean the pizza cutter because it usually has marinara on it! Yes, please (and I could tell that he did). I ordered the Dario Calzone because of positive feedback. Man oh man, that Olive oil veggie & pepperoni pizza was DELICIOUS! It had mushrooms, onions, green peppers, black olives, tasty pepperoni, and the perfect amount of olive oil. The crust is spot on, soft inside with a little crunch on the outside. The calzone flavor is incredible and robust! It has slightly spicy marinara with pepperoni, sausage, and cheese (think that’s correct). It’s huge and savory inside but crisp and light outside. PERFECT!!! Dario made it all fresh, and it was ready in about 20 minutes (with multiple groups inside). He closes at 8 but finished my order and served it to me personally at 8:10. I HIGHLY recommend you go see him and try his fresh, delicious food. Thank you, Dario (I ate too much, haha)!!!

PEOPLE WITH ALLERGIES BEWARE -Called to ask about ingredients that I’m allergic to , I was told to come on down and see the box myself for the ingredients listed. Refused to even tell me if he could just see and tell me over the phone and he was very adamant he would not and that I had to physically show up and see and “make a decision then”. Felt like I was talking to someone who didn’t really care , super disappointed.

My favorite Pizza in Lubbock! The pizza and calzones are always consistent with quality and flavor. The owner makes the pizza himself, and you can see his passion through the food. If you're looking for a local spot, want to support a kind family, and want delicious pizza, I could not recommend Dario's more!
