“I’m finding it tough to rate La Guera… it’s a personal preference thing for me. I prefer ceviche that is served as fresh chunks of protein, rather than shredded. La Guera’s ceviche is a shredded style, a bit on the limier side, very clean white fish, but seemed to have a little flavor. She serves it with fresh avocado, homemade tortilla chips, and crackers. It tasted fine, but lacked the texture of solid fish that I prefer.
The $12 shrimp cocktail is very good! Even the small is plenty of food. Medium size jumps up to $20! Small is all you need! Great, spicey flavor with just enough cilantro and citrus. I’m a fan!

“It is refreshing to come to Brownsville and have a concept like Malachela available with a solid beer selection and tasty bites from an exciting menu. I look forward to returning and trying more food! The molleja tacos are a must have order and they are approachable for the demographic.“

“I was very happy with the service at this bar. The atmosphere is very upbeat and the artwork is very nice, it's one of the nicest bars I've been to. The prices are competitive The staff is very helpful and there was even a bartender with a really cool Mohawk.
Go to the bar, and have a good time, I could almost promise you will.“

“Food and service was excellent ❤️ reasonable prices for premium food! my only suggestion is that they hire more people that speak fluent English considering how fast the RGV is growing. Both servers and the hostess in the front barely spoke any English. (They were awesome btw ❤️) Many people are coming in from all over the country and different countries as well. Luckily, I speak fluent Spanish and was able to communicate effectively, but I know there’s people in Brownsville who don’t speak any spanish. I had to help our waitress translate for my husband which I don’t mind doing, but what if one day they encounter a couple or a family that can’t translate for one another. Just a friendly suggestion ❤️ zero complaints ❤️ as mentioned, everything was delicious and the service was fast! ❤️ 10/10 recommend!“
