I have been coming to First Chinese BBQ for 30 years, starting with the original Richardson location. Takeout orders during the pandemic were disappointed. Quality of food has gone down since. Cheese shrimp (wife favorite) was very oily, a thick layer of oil at the bottom of takeout container. Dried beef flat noodle (chow fun, my favorite) was salty, the noodle was over cook and become mushy. Only the BBQ duck/pork are still OK. The "BBQ" meal dishes - duck, chicken, pork - are typical Cantonese flavors, but not enough vegetables for a lunch plate. Other foods are rather bland, southern Chinese style. Counter service is chaotic and negligent, so customers and staff are both confused about who is ordering, who is picking up, who is paying, who is next, etc. They only accept cash, no credit cards, which is inconvenient for customers and raises suspicions of possible tax avoidance.
You would never have guessed that this restaurant existed by walking by the zTAO Marketplace. Ziky Chinese BBQ is one of several small restaurants in a food court along the back wall of zTAO. We were at zTAO looking to buy something quick to eat a late lunch, but ended up discovering Ziky and stopped to eat a full meal. The menu is MASSIVE, with options left and right.
