If I'm going to a cafe with my laptop, then I'm going to Panera and not Starbucks ... with noise blocking headphones or a mental focus zen to block out the ambiance music. That's mostly because while Starbucks has the best coffee (except for that blonde stuff) and much much better than Panera's coffee, Panera's other offerings surpass Starbucks' non-coffee options. Food quality has been consistent for me and the manager comped a lunch for me when they messed up my order the previous night before closing. They'll do you right if anything is wrong so A+ on service for me.
