Very nice vibe! Not quite 70s, not quite 80's, and not quite post neo Jetsons vibe, but all of the above.....all inside a single family house. At least that was my experience on a Monday night. Delicious drinks. Ask for River. She is very welcoming.

Randomly found this place while visiting SA. It's a very cool local spot. The vibes are super chill ☮️ from the music 🎶 to the employees to people. My overall, hands down MOST FAVORITE part of this place...it's that the bartenders are TRUE MIXOLOGISTS!!! There's NO menu...EVERYTHING is 'CUSTOM MADE'!!! 🍸🍹🥃 Such an awesome concept to have and gives the bartenders an opportunity to showcase their talent and creativity. If you're a local and not familiar with this spot or simply in town visiting...I highly recommend giving it a try. Be sure to ask for 'Ruby'...she's absolutely fantastic, super friendly, and very tentative, no matter the crowd size. 🩵

Ruby is by far the friendliest and most talented bartender I've encountered in San Antonio. I can't recommend this spot enough for the comfortable atmosphere, fantastic drinks, and outstanding service. Don't pass this place up if you get the chance

I really loved this place . The first time I came I had impeccable service & drinks which was during the day. Came back late at night for a date and unfortunately was not as good as the first time I came . I ordered an Aperol spritz and was given this…… This is not an Aperol spritz. Because I hate giving drinks back I did drink it and didn’t say anything but am really disappointed with my recent experience hopefully next time I come it’s better quality.

The Modernist is a fantastic bar that offers a truly one of a kind experience. It may be a bit imitating to some since they don’t offer a set menu, but the staff are more than willing to walk you through the process and create a cocktail as unique as you. I’ve been going for years and always have a great time.
My only critique is that the bar lighting is a bit harsh compared to the rest of the seating area.

The bartenders make sure to ask good questions so they can make you a custom drink that you will enjoy. Just make sure you get the recipe so you can get it again

This place was so talked up-I couldn’t wait to take my gal pal group. Then we were so mistreated by the bartender who was not into making the experience all it could be for a group of mostly newbies. He was short with us when asking questions and really didn’t give any good drink recommendations. Just disappointed as we watched other customers have a really great time with other, more friendly staff!
