Shipley Do-Nuts

I ordered the blueberry donut (unglazed) and cherry sprinkled donut. Together it only cost me $2.19 which is very reasonable to me. My only critique/ complaint about the donuts is that they were a little on the oily side. Note, I went at about an hour before close. I prefer donuts to not be that oily. I have been eating Shipley donuts for many-many decades. My go/to is the Apple fritter. Shipleys has a signature one. It's huge and crusty, and wonderful.I asked for a Apple fritter upon my first visit here. When I got down the road and opened it up to eat it, it was nothing like Houston's many original Shipleys locations. This fritter was simply a apply filled donut, see pics. Their savory kolaches are advertised containing separate ingredients (sausage, cheese, and jalapeno). Nope. It's just a sausage like the kind you would buy in the freezer section at a grocery with the ingredients in the sausage already. The breading was dry.
