Capt. Benny's Reviews
The seafood here is so fresh and absolutely delicious! If you order fried food be sure to order it “seasoned.”
My recommendation: seafood gumbo and the Mate Plate seasoned. You choose two proteins. I like the fried catfish filets and fried shrimp with hush puppies. If you prefer, they can broil the proteins. SO GOOD!
Oysters were pricy but big and good…. Gumbo was fabulous as always
The food was Great and Guy was awesome!

Capt. Benny's serves whole fried fish that might come out harder than expected, but the coleslaw is delicious with a sweet taste. Oysters are usually a hit, although one piece may not look appetizing. The interior is well-maintained and clean, with restrooms in good condition. The restaurant has grown from a makeshift shrimp boat to a full establishment, now featuring a beautiful outdoor seating area and a cute boat bar. The service is attentive and friendly, with servers like Jesse sharing great local recommendations. Customers have enjoyed dishes like whole broiled flounder, shrimp cocktail, shrimp basket, and seafood gumbo, which is considered some of the best in the area. The broil platter is also popular, especially with the rice. Servings are nicely sized and worth the price, though some feel the prices are a bit high given the Gulf Coast location. The fried shrimp, battered with cornmeal, are very good, and the popcorn shrimp batter is different, adding variety. The restaurant has bar seating with high stools inside and outdoor tables on the deck. Overall, Capt. Benny's offers great food and honest service, making it a favorite spot for many seafood lovers.
