This is a really niche market. The owner knows his business and his demographics. Unfortunately, he will be shutting down in December because he just did get the support he needed. The location really is the problem. He has a very niche product in a spot where it is a niche group of people and the two do not match. The location needs to be in a spot where it is consistent with the type of food or where it can see a lot of traffic from all demographics.
Food was fantastic. Some of the most delicious German food I've had in a long time! With that said when I think German Food, I think German beer. While they have a good amount of quality beers. They were all in bottles. I came here thinking I was going to get a nice tall glass of beer instead I was offered a selection of bottled beer.
Unfortunately they close end of the year.A shame.Great food, wrong location...Not many expats in Richmond/
The Sauer Kraut Grill offers delicious German cuisine, including fantastic burgers, sausage platters, and mouthwatering sauerkraut. The ambiance is fun and perfectly complements the food. While the restaurant has a good selection of quality German beers, they are only available in bottles. Unfortunately, the owner will be shutting down the restaurant in December due to a lack of support, as the niche location does not match the type of food offered.
