“The Boathouse is kinda sacred. I know that sounds corny, but music is life in Terlingua. It is magic, a gift from the land to the locals and tourists alike. The Boathouse is the church where you celebrate the musicians who share this gift. Hammer has built a welcoming home away from home. I can't recommend it enough. Go see a show, enjoy a few cold beers and let that magic in.”

“We had an amazing experience with my wife and two boys (10 and 5). This is a magical place and will be back again. One of the few places, (if not the only place with a pool). Much needed in the summer heat. Rooms were super clean and very well equipped with toaster, microwave, coffee maker, TV, A/C, mini fridge, silverware, plates and cooking tools for the grills. The grills and flat irons were very clean and new. The pool was amazing. They also have a very nice coffee shop and awesome store to buy everything you need. Conveniently located and a short drive to Big Bend, Terlingua and Lajitas. I love this place and will definitely be back to experience Jeep, River Rafting and Canoe Trips. We were there for three nights and wish we were staying longer: Super friendly staff and beautiful night skies to see all the stars. I’m confident this place will do great in the future. Nothing like it in the area. GO SPURS GO!”

“The breakfast chorizo tostadas were SO freaking good! 🤤 Definitely a must try on the menu. The croissant wasn’t bad either, and the smoothies were delicious 😋 you can choose your own base and fruits, which I loved.

The decor is absolutely stunning, and you can tell every detail was thoughtfully curated for the space. The vibes are great, and it’s definitely a place where you can grab some good food, relax, and even get some work done while you’re in Terlingua. Definitely worth checking out!”

“I really liked the pizza and went back a second time. Staff was very friendly. I asked them to wipe the pizza cutter before cutting my pizza (to minimize cross-contamination with non-vegan cheese) and they were eager to ensure that happened. I got a pizza with peppers, Impossible meatballs and easy on the vegan cheese (see picture).”

“The reviews that are negative are older. Since new management took over there have been major renovations and improvements to this property and there is more ongoing and planned for the future. The management and team really care and are working hard to make this a great experience for those who stay and camp here. The lodge buildings are being repainted and renovated and the campground looks wonderful and is clean. There are wonderful views of the surrounding desert and mountains. Plus, there’s a convenient restaurant, store and gas station on site as well as tours and horseback riding and it’s convenient to the park and ghost town!”

“High Sierra Bar & Grill is a must-stop if you’re anywhere near Ghost Town, Texas. The margaritas are some of the best I’ve had—perfectly balanced, not too sweet, and just the right kick. Their tostadas were fresh, flavorful, and generously topped—definitely recommend trying them. What really makes this place special, though, is the atmosphere. It’s incredibly welcoming, laid-back, and full of character. They’re also super pet-friendly, which was a huge plus for us. Our pup was treated like family and felt right at home on the patio. The staff was warm, attentive, and genuinely kind—hospitality at its finest. Whether you’re just passing through or staying in the area, High Sierra offers a great taste of local charm with good food, strong drinks, and even stronger vibes.”
