There were two customers standing at the register merrily chatting with the barista. The people waiting in line in front me left without ordering. The customers and the barista continued chatting for another ten minutes. In that time, customers behind me in line left. At that point, the barista asked the customers at the register what they wanted. THEY HADN'T EVEN ORDERED YET! Another five minutes of chatting and I finally got to order. I get that capitalism sucks and all that, and I want employees to be able to chat with their friends, but why couldn't the barista continue chatting with their friends while caring for customers in line?“
