Pros: In a closed hotel, which is pretty fun.
Cons: Food is very overpriced for what you get, not filling, and not particularly flavorful. Left hungry and disappointed.
Vegetarian options: Vegetarian section, but like all dishes, they're small. Ordered the chana masala and it had very little flavor. Mostly mush.

This place is amazing every time. I take my family, my friends, relatives, etc. The owner is awesome and remembers me every time I come in. Even knows my order. Highly recommend!
If I could give this restaurant a higher rating, I would. This is one of the hidden gems of Salt Lake City. Every time I have come the servers are incredible. The food is well prepared every time and exactly what I hope to get from Indian food. The owners are so personable and so kind. Don’t let the abandoned hotel attached to this place keep you from, what I personally think, is the best Indian food in the valley.
I recently dined at Star of India, and I have to say, this place exceeded all my expectations.
We started with the vegetable samosas, and they were, hands down, the best I’ve had in a long time. The crispy exterior and perfectly spiced filling made them an absolute must-try.
For the main course, the Goat Masala and the Garlic naan were a standout. It's easily the best I’ve ever had, with tender pieces of goat in a richly spiced, flavorful sauce that was simply unforgettable. The Lamb Biryani was also a hit, with beautifully cooked rice and tender lamb, full of vibrant flavors.
The service at Star of India was impeccable. The staff was attentive, friendly, and eager to ensure that we had a great dining experience. If you’re a fan of Indian cuisine, this place is a must-visit in SLC!!! Don’t just a book by its cover, what’s inside is well worth the visit!
My husband and I LOVE Indian food! This is now our TOP place for Indian food, surpassing Monsoon in VA which we never thought was possible! Service was very welcoming and as mentioned food was amazing!
Kid-friendliness: Waitress brought water bottles for children which I greatly appreciated because the cups were made out of glass!
My wife and I used to order delivery here a ton but decided to take our family to dine in tonight and I was amazed! The service and food were absolutely phenomenal, probably the best service I’ve ever experienced at a restaurant! If you’ve never been here or have only had delivery, do yourself a favor and go try this place in person!

This is genuinely the best Indian food restaurant. It’s curb appeal and area definitely would deter people away but don’t let it!!! if you do you will be missing out on the yummiest made to order fresh food. The servings can probably feed 2 people.
My absolute favorite Indian restaurant! Everything is fresh and tasty, and their chai is out of this world. Because everything is prepared fresh, it does take a while, but the wait is worth it for the flavor!
