Very disappointing food.
The Bouillabaisse, typical dish from Provence is customized to a very hypothetical American taste. Voila!
It is awful.
Food and drinks: Just so so arrogant and pretentious food. Restaurant almost empty. Comparing to Takashi, half the price and 10 times better, helps understanding why people queue outside Takashi but probably never come back to La Caille. Maybe the Chef should be French.

The lobster bisque was pretty good, and so was the duck breast, although it was the size of a small sushi roll. However, the french onion soup was basically carmalized onions with a little broth and two large tough slices of bread. I also ordered the medium rare tomahawk steak for $195, and it was served so raw I couldn't cut the squishy steak using a steak knife without working it 10 times. The steak didn't look like it was seared, but it appeared more like it had been boiled or microwaved and was served with hardly any seasoning. The steak wouldn't stop jiggleing for a few seconds if i bumped the table, and it wasn't very easy to chew it. For a 200 dollar steak, I had much higher hopes. I didn't request any discount, but the manager decided it was fair to take $75 off of our meal since the steak was so raw. To end on a good note, the wine was the best part, and the scenery was nice.

We came to this restaurant hoping to be wined and dined and walk around to see the beautiful landscaping. We were seated quite quickly despite not having a reservation (that’s a plus), but then we waited a grand total of 75 minutes to get our food.
We were treated well by staff and the restaurant was beautiful. We ordered the Bouillabaisse (what turned out to be watered down fish dishwater soup with a soggy baguette draped over it) and the Seasonal Vegetable Gnocchi (which was maybe a handful of pan seared bread dough bits mixed with raw veggies and oil). We were not pleased. We waited over an hour for our food and when it did come it wasn’t fulfilling neither quality nor quantity. We knew coming into this place that the portions might be smaller since it is a high class restaurant and the portions are usually smaller. We knew that. But the taste and the quality of our food was actually appalling. We were shocked.
My fiancé went to school in France for several years and he said that this supposedly “French” restaurant was nothing close to genuine French cuisine. But. They have a fun mirror to take cute pictures in and the ambiance and landscaping of this place is exquisite. I would definitely come again just to walk on the grounds—but I will not be partaking in their overpriced and disappointing food again.
Pictured: our meals, the pond and trail in the evening, cute mirror selfie opportunity, my fiancé growing impatient after we ate all our bread and waited over an hour for our watered down food.

We had high hopes for this restaurant and were excited to celebrate our anniversary there on January 9th. Unfortunately, the experience was ruined before we even got the chance to dine.
First, I called to book a reservation for New Year’s Eve and was promised they would send me the set menu. Days passed, and I never received it. I had to follow up myself, only to find out they hadn’t even recorded our reservation in the first place.
After rebooking and thinking everything was sorted, they cancelled our anniversary reservation on the day of, leaving us scrambling for last-minute plans. The lack of organization and professionalism throughout this process was shocking. If this is the level of service before you even set foot in the restaurant, I can only imagine how chaotic things must be in person.
The vibes at La Caille are stunning. The drive up to the restaurant resembles a magical holiday experience with all of the light displays. I went with a group for dinner. We had a lovely server who was attentive to the different dietary restrictions at the table. She always made sure that our needs were met which was greatly appreciated. I ended up ordering the Braided Salmon which has a beautiful presentation, however there was something lacking about the flavor. It was good, just not memorable. This would definitely be a great place to celebrate a special occasion while visiting Salt Lake City.

I have heard about this restaurant many times. I finally tried it last night and I was completely let down. I went there at night so I didn’t get to see the amazing view that other people rave about. So go there in the daytime if you want a better feel of the place but honestly I wouldn’t recommend going at all. The food was okay, some items being actually bad. It lacked flavor, balance and any sort of creativity. The potato croquettes were screaming for salt. My French onion soup had no depth and was abnormally sweet. Beet salad was good but for the price was underwhelming. The chicken was confusing with a flavor profile of pizza? One of the cheeses on the charcuterie board didn’t taste like anything and the whole grain mustard on the charcuterie had notes of isopropyl alcohol. They want you to pick a fully coursed meal and if you want to be full you’d have to making the price per person even more ridiculous. I’m sorry but it was not good and with the money we spent I left almost angry.

I called in November to make a reservation for four for Christmas Eve. The girl told me I was too early so I called back mid November again And she mentioned she has my name and phone number down for Christmas Eve at 6:30. I called again in the beginning of December to confirm that reservation And she confirmed that yes, I was Was on the list yes Hamilton. She said I was the first person on the list. Of course I was because I called in November when no one else had called yet. I asked her if I needed to call back to confirm the reservation again and she said no. Luckily December 23 we called to confirm our reservation and they had informed us that they canceled it on us !!😡That time in preparation for my family we have no place to eat on Christmas Eve so needless to say I’m not happy with any of you there since I have called about this reservation since November, your staff is unorganized I will never do an event or take a chance on a Christmas Eve dinner because you’re not to be trusted

We have a running tradition f going every thanksgiving with our family. Truthfully speaking the main course portion is not enough, we were 4 grown adults and that was the portion to share. Granted they do bring more of whatever it is you want if you ask. But it’s a super cute place, they host wedding, you can have photo sessions for fee.
It is currently under construction for a new bar

Fun French fine dining experience. If you're daring you can expect to challenge your pallet.

We walked in to the restaurant with a smell of sewage. I'm not sure what was causing the terrible smell but it was there when we left as well. We had a reservation for 7:30 and didn't get all our food until 10:30. I enjoy an extended meal, but this was just terrible service. We had a bottle of wine we had to poor ourselves after waiting for 45 min for a refill. The water was not filled until appetizers were finished. The food was not good. The mussels were dirty with crunchy sand and the duck was poorly cooked and flavored. I was so disappointed in everything we ate. Tjey took our plates before asking. After hundreds or dollars spent the service and food were Applebee's quality. The ambiance would be nice if the smell in the foyer wasn't overwhelming sewage. I wish I had more positive feedback, but I am incredibly disappointed.

I hadn't been to La Caille in years, but I remembered it as a place where you paid more for the ambiance than the food—though the food was decent. We decided to give it another try yesterday for Thanksgiving, and unfortunately, it was a huge disappointment.
The food was mediocre at best, and I couldn’t take more than a few bites. It arrived lukewarm or cold, with the salmon and Brussels sprouts undercooked, the turkey dry, and the rest overly salted and bland, lacking any vibrancy or character. Even the plating seemed a bit lifeless.
On a more positive note, while other reviews mentioned service issues, we had an enjoyable experience with the staff. They were kind, attentive, and professional. However, the food's shortcomings overshadowed the evening for me.
In the past, I felt the ambiance compensated for the food's quality, but yesterday, it did not.
Regrettably, we won’t be dining here again and will advise others to avoid it as well.
Thanksgiving bust. Dinner service 11/28/2024 was frankly poor for $150/plate; would put this lower on my list for future holidays.
Seated 30 min after reservation (admittedly we were late too). Had to ask twice for a drink menu, second basket of bread arrived 30-45 minutes after we asked, table next to us had to ask 3 times for their drink, refills on soft drinks never arrived. Butternut squash soup served room temperature! Waiter never asked if we wanted coffee with dessert. Valet not present when we arrived. This was a holiday meal mill, not fine dining.
For context, I have had a few decent meals here, including one Christmas Eve a few years ago, generally good if pricey.

We have visited La Caille several times over the years. Our latest Thanksgiving evening experience was not worth the visit, no less the money spent. 20 minutes late being seated for our booking while others who arrived after us were seated first. Upon being seated, no one even came to our table to say hello for another 10 minutes and then finally we got some water. Every table but ours had flowers for this special dinner setting. We were not given any drink options or asked if we had any dietary restrictions like the other tables received. 30 minutes ticked away from the time we ordered to get our soup and salads delivered. In the meantime I had asked our server for a specific wine from their menu, it took her 30 minutes to determine they didn’t have or couldn’t find what I had tried to order. By the time we received our dinner and had eaten it was almost 2 hours from the time we arrived. I asked for our check and to prepare our deserts to-go. They made two attempts to sell us wine to-go prior to us leaving as if it would somehow make our dining experience better. The best experience/service of the night was the speed and politeness of the valet attendant as we looked to leave for the evening.

Our reservation was at 5:15 which we were 5 minutes early for, we weren’t seated until 5:35 and another family that arrived after us were seated before us. After being seated we weren’t greeted by anyone for at least 10 minutes. At that point the server just poured water- every other guest was asked if they preferred house water or sparkling water and we weren't given the option. 5-10 minutes later the server comes over and explains the menu and goes over our options. We placed our order and requested 2 glasses of wine- she said she wasn’t sure if they serve that wine by the glass but would ask and let us know, after telling us we would have to order by the bottle we told her we would by the bottle. We then received our appetizer and soup/salads and approximately 20 minutes later she returns and said she can’t find the wine we ordered. We showed her where it was on the menu and we told her just to forget it at this point. She replied well you can still have it with the meal. We said no just scrap the wine as this has already been an unpleasant experience. We finally received our food probably an hour after being seated- the food was just okay and for a Thanksgiving dinner this was an all-around bad experience. After finishing our food we requested our desserts to go. A manager then approached our table and asked about the wine mix-up we explained what happened to her in an annoyed tone and she proceeded to try to sell my on their wine to take home- I said no thank you just please get our desserts and check so we could leave. Our waitress finally picked up our check to finalize and didn’t return for 10 minutes and stated there was an issue with the computer, however I get alerts when the card is ran and it was run immediately after I gave my card just another frustrating experience. I also noticed that every table but ours had fresh flowers and salt and pepper yet we didn’t. For an expensive holiday meal they had zero sense of urgency, an inability to recognize that we were upset and a lack of attention to details. We then heard the same server at a near table and when explaining the meal she asked if they had any dietary restrictions- something we were not asked at the time of ordering. Also, while waiting for them to finalize the bill the manager re-approached the table to re-offer us to purchase a bottle of wine to-go. I could not believe her lack of ability to see how annoyed we were the first time and yet she tries again to up-sell us. We have been to this restaurant several times and never had a bad experience but today was completely terrible. The only good service we received was from the valet driver who got the vehicle for us. I will strongly consider if I will ever return but definitely wouldn’t on a holiday.

Fairly good, but definitely not worth the markups. The steak waa juicy but I've had much better for much lower prices. Same goes for the appetizers and desserts. I guess it's all about marketing nowadays.
