“After 4 months when I initially asked for recommendations for the best oxtail people have had I finally found myself in Alexandria with time to stop in and order me a plate. I’m so glad that I did!

Huge helping of oxtail, rice and peas, cabbage, and collard greens! The to go plate was HEAVY!

This was hands down the best oxtail plate I’ve ever eaten! Had a little heat to it, some sweetness, meat was juicy and fell off the bone nice and smooth. The sides were also full of flavor, which has been an issue in the past with other restaurants. A lot of places focus on the entrees and completely neglect the sides.

“I almost don't want to review it for fear of this hidden gem being overtaken by hype and becoming packed. However, it would be a disservice to not support the good people at Amen Cafe, so I will. This quaint, lowkey spot, tucked in the corner of Georgia Avenue and easy to walk by, is a MUST visit. The hospitality is unlike most cafes. They're attentive, kind, and make you feel secure in a home away from home feel. The Ethiopian coffee is some of the richest and boldest in the city, and if you want a huge wake up, get the ginger coffee. The fresh juice is refreshing and revitalizing, and always hits the spot. The pastries and sandwiches are solid as well, but by far if you're going to visit, get the Ful or Ful special, its a beautiful, rich spread that is my personal go to. I didn't even know I liked ful and now I'm hooked. I tried other cafes, no one in the city makes better ful than here. So yeah, I love my cafe, I hope it never leaves. Ameseghnalew“

“Soooo good! Ordered catering for a family event and from the first bite everybody wanted to know where the food was from. The jerk salmon, chicken and cabbage is amazing! The white rice.. no words!“

“I’ve been going to Caribbean Superior since 2016. I’m a regular for their breakfast, patties, and soups. The food quality has remained solid. However their portion sizes are not consistent (and far as protein goes) and have become significantly smaller since May. It’s either raise the prices or make the portions smaller, but doing both is a little crazy and it makes it difficult to continue to be a patron here.“

“I really enjoyed their jerk chicken. First of all it’s actually made on the grill. Second you smell it the moment you enter the parking lot. I get my grilled with the sauce on the side and it was perfect and authentic. Whoever said it was burnt and thought that pic was proof knows nothing about jerk chicken. Mine was super moist. I liked it and I recommend.“

“This is a nearby spot and couldn't be happier if it were any closer I'd be there everyday. Mama is the sweetest woman so hard working and very kind. The food is made with love and is worth every cent it's not expensive but it's worth every dollar. My favorite dish is jerk chicken, white rice, cabbage, and plantains with a side of coco bread?“
