We were able to visit the ruins of the governor's mansion that burned down on Christmas day in the 1800's. That was an unexpected bonus while visiting the vineyard. We then went to the tasting room, where patrons must sit at the bar if they want to participate in a tasting. There was an almost-empty bowl of oyster crackers on the bar; the employee declined to refill it. My friends paid $20 each for a glass of Octagon. Fortunately, the wine was very good. One of the better vineyards in a state stuffed with them . Excellent wines, knowledgeable staff, 2 outstanding ruins and the ruins of a building designed by Thomas Jefferson. They put in attention to detail and it shows.
Jessyca at the front was so friendly and helpful! She was efficient, knowledgeable, and made us feel welcome. The view, the wine, and her attitude made our whole experience very pleasant. Highly recommend.
