We very much enjoyed our long weekend at the winery. We stayed at the Pinot Grigio cottage and eat at the Palladio restaurant and the Library. The staff were very attentive, the service was great, and food and wine were delicious. The grounds are very picturesque with the views of the Appalachian mountains in the distance. We were able to visit the ruins of the governor's mansion that burned down on Christmas day in the 1800's. That was an unexpected bonus while visiting the vineyard. We then went to the tasting room, where patrons must sit at the bar if they want to participate in a tasting. There was an almost-empty bowl of oyster crackers on the bar; the employee declined to refill it. My friends paid $20 each for a glass of Octagon. Fortunately, the wine was very good. Barboursville Vineyards is a professional and hospitable winery known for its delicious wines and great food. They offer charcuterie and cheese boards, and their library cafe serves excellent food. The staff is attentive, funny, and knowledgeable about events, keeping customers informed. The vineyard, with its beautiful building and scenic views, is a hidden gem well-known locally, offering a selection of great wines at reasonable prices. Guests have praised the Nascent white blend and the signature red blend, as well as delicious food options like scallops and bison at the Palladio. The wine maker, Luka, takes the time to speak with customers, sharing his story. While it can get crowded, there is plenty of parking and seating available. The setting is always stunning, with well-paired tables, and Chef Michael and his team deliver an impeccable meal.
