I have a goal to drink a draft Guinness in every Irish pub in Virginia by the end of the year and I am halfway there. I stopped by Durty Nelly's on way home from Charlottesville to check it off my list. I ordered a Guinness. Before I could look up, the bartender popped the top on a can of Guinness draft and handed me a pint glass. I asked him if they had draft Guinness and he said no. Great place - solid dive bar. I went to VA for Memorial Day weekend and stopped in here. We had two sandwiches, both were 10/10. Everyone seemed really friendly. I'll have to go back here again next time I'm in the area.
The last and best dive bar left in town. Be prepared and don't expect cocktails or classy wine. The subs are massive and high quality. Come for the subs, stay for the stone fireplace and friendships! Nelly's is the epitome of a local bar. Keep in mind that the shorter PM menu starts at 5, but still has plenty of options. Fantastic happy hour, as well!
