this local place is just around the corner from a Starbucks and it is worth the extra steps to come down here. Atmosphere is cozy. Staff is pleasant in the coffee is amazing! Their Ethiopian is a medium roast and it is delicious!

First time visiting Charlottesville. So glad I followed friends’ recommendation to make Grit a must-try. Great coffee, wonderful pastries, and super friendly staff. Will visit again next time I’m in town. :)

Grit Coffee at UVa Corner is a cozy spot known for its friendly baristas who create delicious drinks like the iced chai latte, seasonal vanilla honey latte with pumpkin spice, and blackberry mocha. The interior is cute and spacious, with a decent amount of indoor seating and additional options for outdoor seating. The small gabled building sits on a dead-end road near train tracks, making it a charming location. Although there is no street parking available, a parking garage is conveniently located across the street. Despite some challenges, such as a mishap with a rock in a bag of whole bean coffee, customer service remains prompt and generous, quickly addressing issues and sending replacements. Grit Coffee captures the essence of autumn in every sip, making it a perfect spot for a coffee break or study session, especially popular among UVA students.
