“Hands down, one of the best restaurants in CVille. Whether you are local or flying in from CHO (close-ish to the airport), you have to make it to this hidden gem. Very eclectic/stylish/fun Miami inspired decor with a really unique but specific art collection on the walls. Everytime I eat here, i order something different, and it is always something I have never had. Today, I had "Maicitos" which was described to me as "Mac and cheese meets street corn (elotes) with lays chips crumbled on top for crunch." It was totally new to me, but it was so awesome! And as good as the food and decor are, the people who work there truly steal the show. They are extremely friendly, customer service oriented, and more passionate about the food they serve than any restaurant I've ever been to. Their excitement to share with you their unique flavors is irresistible. If you only get one meal in CVille, you won't regret choosing Guajiros.“
“Did a quick day trip to Charlottesville and was recommended to come here by a family member. The trip here did not disappoint! This was by far the best Peruvian chicken place I have had. The chicken was spiced well, and the sides that they had to offer were amazing. The poblano rice was my favorite! If I’m ever back in Charlottesville again, I will be coming back!“
“I love to find a good Mexican breakfast, so after driving by this unassuming, colorful building that looked like a Latin grocery, I stopped in one morning and saw that the right side is a restaurant and the left side is the Latin grocery. The lady working the dining room didn’t speak English and when I asked if they had breakfast, she had to get someone to interpret – they told her to give me a menu and low and behold, they had lots of breakfast items!I opted for Baleadas and since I needed to get to a meeting, I took it to go. It took about 10 minutes for them to make it and I was out the door. When I opened it, it looked delicious! When I cut into it, got a big piece of avocado and tasted it, I was very happy! It tasted absolutely amazing! The thicker tortillas were incredibly tasty! The portion was insanely huge and something that could have been shared with one or two people. The food was fresh and very tasty and the red hot sauce that came with it added a very nice heat to the dish.I’ll definitely return here – Really good food!!“
“Such a great place. I love that it has found an affordable home but it is sad that the home is in the mall. It's more of an issue with our current city situation and how nothing is affordable for small local business. Support these nice people it is important.“
“The food is amazing, the brunch is phenomenal! Cocktails are great and staff is super knowledgeable. They have weekly specials (burger Mondays, date night Tuesday’s, half off wine bottle Wednesdays, bachata night Thursdays) and live music! 10/10 would definitely recommend.“
“This spot is a true gem - one of my favorites. Extremely well taken care of (tables are spotless, and the lighting is bright and clean), great music, and really wonderful service/kind servers and, most importantly, *outstanding* food. I almost don't want to write this review, because that'd mean more people would come and discover my favorite spot to eat after a long day. But also the restaurant is too delicious not to share, and I hope they DO become popular, because they deserve it. Get the tamal - so soft and delicate/flavorful. The grilled mi casita special is also delicious (with grilled shrimp, chicken, and steak; actual grill marks and yummy smoky flavor). I also love the chuleta encebollada (fried pork chops with caramelized onions). Just really good quality, authentic, and fresh food and great prices. Such a rarity to find spots like these in Cville.“
“We tried their half rack ribs and a quarter of chicken, for sides, we got rice and plantains, and for drinks, horchata and mexican coke. They’re all so good!!! The ribs were falling off the bones and have such unique sauce which we liked. The rice was a perfect pair for the meats and the plantains tasted fresh and not refried. We’d come back for sure.“
“On a freezing winter evening, my husband and I scored the perfect seats beside the fireplace where we warmed up with spicy mezcal cocktails. Both of our entrees were innovative and absolutely delicious. And the espresso martinis we had for dessert provided both the perfect ending to dinner and just enough illusionary warmth to make our walk next door to the Paramount Theater at least bearable, maybe even pleasant. This was our first trip to Zocalo, but it definitely won't be our last!“
“I was greeted with a smile upon entry and the smiles kept coming throughout my wonderful dining experience! Treats on the menu are many - I sampled as much as I could. I particularly enjoyed the corn tamales - El Salvador style! They were crispy, hot and have a slight sweetness to them - these will not disappoint! The special puposas are something I have not encountered before and tasty. For a main course I enjoyed the tilapia whole fried fish - and side of salad and rice. I enjoyed the fish’s fresh and crispy texture. I also tried the plantains ? I am so glad to have El Tio here in America’s Charlottesville. If you want to try authentic El Salvadoran food - go! ???Kid-friendliness: My kid enjoyed this place (teen).“
