We have dined at many Charlottesville restaurants over the years, but always come back to our favorite casual dining place, The Local. Great food, service and beverages. It’s like a fun family get together!

Food was wonderful, so many delicious options. The short ribs are amazing and so soft they just fall off of the bone! Would definitely consider making this a regular dinner spot!
We had a 6:30 reservation and were seated promptly. Our server Ashley provided great responses to our questions, allowing us time to enjoy our cocktails before ordering. The bacon wrapped meatloaf was absolutely delicious, my husband enjoyed the trout. We shared the pecan pie for dessert. Best dinner of the weekend!
What a great find during our recent visit to Charlottesville! Food was delicious: cream of crab soup - perfectly flavored with bits of crab as a highlight. We had pasta dishes - mushroom fettuccini and bolognese. Every bite was amazing. We were too full to add a dessert. Definitely will return here on future visits to the area.
We love the local and go quite often. The food is phenomenal. I'd recommend getting a reservation if you want to go there on the weekend. Short rib was great.
Quaint place, two floors with a balcony. Food was excellent! So were the drinks. The soup of the day was fantastic!
This place has been reduced to a shadow of its former self. The service was mediocre and the food passable. The desert, which was supposed to be a cobbler, resembled a berry sauce with lumps of dough. A perturbing sight. Upon request, the staff told us this was the way it's always been served. I beg to differ. It was disappointing to return after a longer absence and see the restaurant reduced to this.
The crispy shrimp starter, beef short ribs and chocolate pecan pie were to die for. Always pleased with the food, quality of service and prices, a favorite Belmont restaurant not to be missed.
While we were super impressed by the food, it was the staff at this location that made the experience five stars. Craig was delightful, helpful with his suggestions, and extremely attentive. We look forward to returning again the next time we are in town!
Service was great, atmosphere was inviting & warm. The entrees were delicious and sizable as were the dessert options. Would definitely enjoy dining there again.

Service was just a tiny bit slow as we arrived at peak time. However, once we were able to order service was very good. I had the special of the day, beef tenderloin, and my wife had the short ribs. Both were excellent. It can be a little noisy due to the brick walls so people who wear hearing aids may find their hearing aids simply amplify the noise. Overall- 5 stars.
slower than expected service given number of empty tables but exceptional food

Very nice! Food, service all excellent. Not too impressed with the hostess, nasty attitude
Told me that I didn't have a reservation for 7 when I made one on open table days before and had proof of it. Sat us upstairs where a 91 year old had to climb a steep set of stairs. Food took 1 1/2 hours to come out. They ran out of 2 different dishes that we ordered. It was my husband's birthday and I wanted it to be special but it was disappointing. Will not be back. They did comp our meal in the end which was nice but I wish it had been a better experience.
First time to the Local, Food was fantastic, Ollie our server was attentive and available. All and all great meal. Would definitely go again.
