The smaller venue here makes for excellent concerts and live experience. The food was outstanding and the entire staff is friendly and energetic, much like the artists the feature. I hate that I discovered this place too late in my time in Charlottesville. I will definitely visit again next time I'm in town.
It's a place to see a music show, not a place to eat. Decent food. Tiny selection.
Great small venue, and the sound in there is great! I've been a lot of places that sounded like a muddy mess, but top marks to these guys!
Great venue for bluegrass/folk/indie. Chill vibe.

Cool basement music venue. The kind of place that all the big stars start out. Just had drinks during a show. I can't comment on the food.

The perfect venue to see live music. The venue and bar area are in separate areas. But ordering is not a problem. The music room is well equipped and sounds great. Do yourself a favor and see a show. It's a great up close and personal experience.

The venue is beautiful but the staff is noticeably sub par. You can easily get in for free just by walking through the door. Two staff members watched me walk out with a drink in my hand, only to tell me coming back in I can’t do that. Yeah, okay blonde ponytail
It's fine I guess. But only if you like to feel alive

It's nice for a dive bar, except that it is in Charlottesville, with all its 'quirks.'

TBH I have no idea if they serve food here, but if it’s anything close to the drinks, atmosphere, and service, it’s probably great. Huge fan of this venue. They pull in bands and musicians unlike any other venue in the central Virginia area. Former cvillian who makes several pilgrimages a year for various shows and to see friends. Love the Southern and only wish there was a comparable venue in Richmond.
Parking: Parking is mixed. Usually end up paying for parking in nearby lots but street parking is possible.

Great little place in Charlottesville. Chairs are a little uncomfy, but other than that, great place.
