Captain Tom's Seafood Reviews
Our 1st time and the food was good and didn’t take long to receive our food. When ever we come back again to Petersburg, we will come back
***FOOD POISONING*** WHATEVER YOU DO, DO NOT GO TO THIS RESTAURANT! I dined here on 12/03/2024 with my husband and mother and the food was beyond disgusting. The scallops were so tough I could barely cut them with a knife and, much to my dismay, the two that I did manage to choke down made me violently ill by the time I got home. Furthermore, the frog legs were undercooked, and the oysters were 30 seconds from being burnt to a crisp. I called the restaurant, asked for the owner,...read full review

Captain Tom's Seafood is a hidden gem with a clean and friendly atmosphere. The food is great, with popular items like hush puppies and fried fish, shrimp, and potatoes with slaw. The complimentary hush puppies are always hot and fresh, and the daily special of popcorn shrimp and fish dinner is well-liked. Fried oysters, scallops, and catfish are tasty, though the onion rings weren't seasoned this time. Prices are reasonable, but payment is taken upfront, and a fee applies for debit/credit card payments. While the seating process could be improved, the staff is always courteous and the drinks are strong. The restaurant is accessible for wheelchair users, and parking is usually easy to find. It is a down-to-earth seafood place where servers are friendly and service is fast. Customers appreciate the variety of fish and sides, with some favorites like baked potato, sweet potato fries, and okra. The soft shell crab is tasty, though sometimes a bit harder than preferred, and the hush puppies in ring form lack the crisp shell. Overall, it offers a consistently great family-friendly dining experience with delicious food and welcoming staff.
