This was my first time here and I referred this place to my friends, because I was so happy it was soul food. The customer service was on a 1000, when I got my food the collards, cabbage and potatoes salad were good, however I decided on this place because someone told me about it and I wanted ribs, unfortunately the ribs were not fresh ( the flavor of the rub was awesome, they were also tender) and I can honestly say they weren't fresh and I don't mean they were prepared...

I just left The Down Home Cafe. The customer service and the atmosphere were nice. Please be prepared, everything there is Al La cart. Therefore, some of the sides are expensive, such as 8.50 for a side of collard greens.

I was really looking forward to having some macaroni and cheese. Unfortunately, I was told that it was “ backed up.” I traveled an hour to go there to support, but unfortunately, they weren’t ready.

My first time with my girlfriend trying your establishment. I tried the fried whiting fish, which was cooked to perfection. However, the salt was just too much for me to enjoy, and I'm a salt user. My friend had some type of combo that she mentioned was extremely salty as well. We also tried the mac & cheese, which was pretty good. Thank you, and I will try again, hoping the salt used in the preparation of food will taper off some.
