Wonderful food, very friendly service, and nice clean facilities. The only drawback is the limited seating, but still highly recommend.
Down Home Cafe is an absolute showstopper! From the first bite to the last sip, the food was downright incredible—comforting, flavorful, and clearly made with love. The cozy, welcoming atmosphere makes you want to linger, and the wait staff was nothing short of amazing: professional, friendly, and attentive without being overbearing. Down Home Comfort Café Soul Food and More is a family-owned soul food restaurant that offers a cozy and welcoming atmosphere. The menu features a variety of delectable dishes, including the delicious and moist blackened salmon, flavorful green beans, and the popular fried chicken wings and whiting. The fried chicken is juicy inside, with a crisp and savory outside, and the waffles are light, fluffy, and buttery. The blackened shrimp and grits are considered a near-spiritual experience, with creamy, rich grits and perfectly grilled shrimp. The ribs are fall-off-the-bone tender, and the cornbread is moist, crumbly, and sweet, easily one of the best in years. Many customers praise the fresh, made-to-order food and genuine, knowledgeable staff that provide attentive service and care throughout the meal. The restaurant's small and intimate dining area adds to its charming ambiance, and the option to order on a tablet and seat oneself makes dining convenient. This hidden gem is highly recommended for those seeking authentic and delicious soul food in a comfortable setting, with a special mention of the blackened chicken sandwich with sweet potato fries and the catfish, which is always served hot and in generous portions.
