4 Best Ice Cream Shops in Danville

“Bubba's is a Danville institution and is commonly referenced when someone is looking for ice cream. It is conveniently located for a treat or easy meal when going for a drive in the country.

The new location (Rte. 41) is exponentially more inviting than the previous location on North Main Street both from a parking space, safety, & perimeter lighting standpoint.

I am not going to rave about the best ice cream in the world or best food but everything is adequate and matches the pricing reasonably well. My preference is hand-dipped ice cream and soft-serve is all that is offered here. Not a problem as I have cravings for different cold treats at different times. I am a sucker for a swirl waffle cone (strawberry/vanilla pictured). Hot dogs are standard "red dogs" that are popular in the region. Not everyone's cup of tea but I enjoy them immensely. The BBQ sandwich is a tasty item. Though basic, it is what you'd expect from an ice cream stand.

I have had different levels of service from their mostly teenager staff and that is to be expected. It has always been better than average and I have never experienced an outright rude employee on my many visits to Bubba's, contrary to other reviews.

BRING CASH!! The word that comes to mind is bootleg when I see an operation not take credit/debit cards and offer an ATM around back. It definitely seems like a stepping over dollars to pick up pennies mentality to not offer the most prevalent form of payment and I can only imagine how many cars don't stop or pull in and right back out due to this, but it's not my business and it doesn't stop me from enjoying this lovely spot.

Parking: The primary parking lot will fill up somewhat quickly but the neighbors parking lot is fair game so don't let that discourage you.“

“We came in today to try their new açaí bowls and I’m so glad we did! They were awesome! I had the berry crunch one with added chia seeds and honey drizzle. My sister had the tropical bowl with added ginger and peanut butter drizzle. The açaí mixture was so good and not icy or half melted like I have had at most places. I’m not sure how they make it this good but I’m so happy that offer them. Now I just wished I lived closer so I could come often :(. We come in about once every 5 to 6 weeks to visit with family. We will definitely be back to try the other varieties of açaí bowls. Great job!
